Palm Inc, is a company in the forefront of the mobile computing industry, formed by Jeff Hawkins and Donna Dubinsky in 1992. Their headquarters is at Sunnywale, California in the United States. One of the leading hardware and software industries in the United States, Palm’s popular products are Treo smartphones, Zire, Tungsten PDAs and the LifeDrive. The specialty of their products is that most of them function on their own Operating System.
Lightweight and handy, Palm’s Treo smartphone flawlessly combines a fully featured mobile phone with messaging, email, an organizer and web access capabilities. Its attractive interface includes a built-in QWERTY keyboard for simple and well-organized data input. Other features include five-way navigation button and a smooth design which allows for stream-lined functionality.
The Treo 700P is the first smartphone to have the Palm Operating System. It contains high speed cellular network support and is the first of its kind to have Bluetooth 1.2. Treo 700P can play live shows with the aid of EVDO connectivity. It also has a 1.3 megapixel camera, touch screen, 2.5 mm stereo headphone jack, support for multimedia card, SD & SDIO cards making information available to the user in a simplified manner.
Another high-selling model is the Treo 680 smartphone, the predecessor of Treo 650, available in the four colors Arctic, crimson, copper and graphite. Treo 680 is the first Treo smartphone with Palm OS to host no external antenna. Treo mobile phones have integrated Bluetooth technology, GSM/GPRS/EDGE, touch screen display, 0.3 megapixel (640x480) VGA digital camera with 2x digital zoom and more.
The only carriers to offer Treo smartphones in North America are AT&T and Roger. The Treo smartphones are made available worldwide through Vodafone in New Zealand & Australia, Singtel, Globe, Telcel MX, Cable & Wireless (Caribbean), Orange France, Swisscom and Claro in Brazil.
