About Air Supply

The Australia/English duo Air Supply practically defined the soft rock sound for the 80's. Guitar solos soar, synthesizers crash and love is always in the air. Air Supply sound like they should be the climax to nearly every Molly Ringwald movie ever. Guitarist Graham Russell met up with lead singer Russell Hitchcock while performing in the Australian production of Jesus Christ, Super Star. The group wracked up a string of local hits in Australia, like "Empty Pages" and "Love and Other Bruises". Their big break came when they were invited to open for rocker Rod Stewart. Rod was so impressed he invited the young band to join him for the rest of his world tour. The band recorded their first solid album Life Support in 1979. Air Support followed it up in 1980 with Lost In Love, which included an extended reworking of the previously released title track. Lost In Love featured the hits "All Out of Love" and "Every Woman In the World". "All Out of Love" would prove to be the band's biggest US single. They continued to keep fans of their sincere lyrics and snappy outfits happy with singles like "Making Love Out of Nothing At All" which reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Other lovelorn early 80's hits included "Just As I Am", "Lonely Is the Night" and "Power of Love". In the early 90's, Air Supply released The Vanishing Race, a concept album dedicated to the tragic plight of the Native Americans throughout history.
