About Amerie

Hot, young, smooth-voiced R&B chanteuse Amerie had been all over the world. She traveled to South Korea, Germany, Alaska and Texas before she ever recorded a note. Amerie's father was in the military and met her mother while stationed in Korea. Amerie has since brought her diverse experiences to her music and often signs her autographs in both English and Korean. Ambitious from an early age, Amerie attended Georgetown University and graduated with degrees in English and Fine Art. She got her big break on a duet with tough-guy rapper Nas, titled "Rule" which landed on the MC's Stillmatic album. Sensing the time was hot, she followed it up with her own single Why Don't We Fall In Love?. Her warm vocals and classic R&B production from industry heavyweight Rich Harrison got the single into heavy rotation and a version with Ludacris on guest vocals was also released. Her debut album All I Have, was a solid collection of chill jams, perfect for cruising in the car or relaxing at home. She shows off her vocal versatility on slow burners like Show Me or frisky, up-tempo romps like Nothing Like Loving You. Amerie covered the Diana Ross classic I'm Coming Out for the 2002 Hugh Grant movie Maid In Manhattan. She scored a spot on BET hosting their show The Center. Amerie further explored her acting talent in the 2004 romantic comedy First Daughter. In 2004 she released her second album Touch to critical acclaim. Touch saw Amerie stretching her voice against a sample-heavy beat on the hit single "1 Thing", which was remixed by everyone from Jay-Z to Fabolous.
