When guitarist Mick Jones left the legendary punk outfit the Clash in 1984, he re-appeared about a year later with Big Audio Dynamite. Combining electronic beats with Jones's beloved power chords, the group's debut record was among the first to blend hip-hop, reggae and rock. Over the next several years, the group survived illness, an ever-changing line-up, and even a name change, while enjoying considerable success both with their records and as a live act.
