Bret Michael Sychak (Bret Michaels) - singer, actor, songwriter, director and producer was born in Butler, Pennsylvania on March 15, 1963. When he was just six, he was diagnosed as having juvenile diabetes and has been dependent on insulin injections ever since. When still a child, he moved with his family to the district of Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg where he did his schooling. At a young age, Michaels showed a penchant for music. This strong love of music led him to form the sensational metal band Paris (later renamed 'Poison') in 1984, in which he was the lead singer and guitarist. Michaels achieved tremendous success with Poison. Out of 15 singles which made their way into the Top 40, 10 singles were co-written by him. His biggest hit ever "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" retained the top spot in Billboard's 'Top Pop Singles' chart for close to a month. Michaels made his debut as a solo singer with the album 'A Letter From Death Row,' released in 1998 for a film by the same name which he had written, directed and acted in. This film was the product of Sheen/Michaels Entertainment, a film production house jointly established by Michaels and actor Charlie Sheen. Michaels' second solo album "Songs of Life" was released five years later in May 2003. Brett Michaels hit numbers include "Something to Believe in," "Talk Dirty to Me," and "Nothing But a Good Time." His third solo album "Freedom of Sound" came out in 2005. Brett Michaels was a judge on "Nashville Star" (2005 season) and has made appearances in television shows like 'Martial Law,' 'The Chris Isaak Show' and 'Yes Dear.' A forthcoming TV venture is "Rock of Love with Brett Michaels" to premier on July 15. Brett Michaels has two daughters - Raine Elizabeth and Jorja Bleu from ex-wife Kristi Lynn Gibson.
