The heartland country music duo Brooks & Dunn/> have won countless fans and Country Music Awards with their eclectic mastery of classic country styles. The duo are both accomplished multi-instrumentalists and they are often credited with sparking the mid-90's line-dancing craze. With their rugged good looks and classic, twangy voices, a Brooks and Dunn album feels as familiar and comfortable as a worn pair of blue jeans. Ronnie Dunn, the brunette, was born in Coleman, Texas. Though he always loved music, he entered Abilene Christian College to study theology. However, he was too wild to be a priest, the young Ronnie was quickly expelled. Maybe it was for the best-he won a songwriting contest and the prize was a trip to Nashville. Kix Brooks, the blond, was born in Shreveport, Louisiana and graduated from Sewanee Military Academy. He briefly moved to Alaska with is father to help work on an oil pipeline, then returned home at his father's urging to pursue his musical dreams. He got started working for Tree Publishing as a songwriter where he met Ronnie Dunn. They are legendary in country music circles for their energetic live shows, and have toured with everyone from southern rockers The Montgomery Gentry to Australian country heart-throb Keith Urban. Their genre-bending #1 singles have included the soaring, gospel-influenced "Believe," the tender Ronan Keating collaboration "The Long Goodbye" and classic booze anthem "Beer Thirty." Brooks & Dunn's Boot Scootin' Boogie was accompanied by a line dancing video shot at the world famous honkytonk club Tulsa City Limits in Okalahoma and line-dancing has been hot ever since.
