Like other army brats Ciara (full name Ciara Princess Harris) grew up all over the place?New York, California, Germany and Arizona. With all that moving, it's easy to imagine not keeping up with the Top 40. But after catching a Destiny's Child performance on TV, the young Ciara decided it was the pop life for her. Once she hooked up with "musical soul mate" producer Jazze Pha, the rest has come naturally to the smooth-voiced, attractive young singer. With a warm smile, come-hither eyes and a fabulous sense of urban style, Ciara's 2004 debut Goodies found her plunged into the middle of a hot house party with an A-list of a guest list. Surrounded by hit-making radio royalty like Missy Elliott, T.I., Petey Pablo, Bow Wow, Ludacris and Lil Jon, it wouldn't be hard to imagine Ciara playing sidekick on her own record. It's a measure of her talent and maturity that she holds it down on her own, especially on the album's break-out hit "Goodies." The single features the fast-rapping Petey Pablo and the production talent of crunk king Lil' Jon, who anointed the single with his trademark insane siren beat and considers it his second "Crunk & B" masterpiece (the first being Usher's "Yeah!") Other album highlights were the up-tempo "1-2 Step" featuring Missy and fan-favorite "Pick Up the Phone." Ciara's also returned the guest-cred favor by appearing on album tracks with Missy Elliot and Bow Wow, with whom she's romantically connected. Making up a must-see tour of young talent, Bow Wow, Ciara and Chris Brown took a blazing group show on the road in 2005 and were met with critical acclaim (remember, all these artists have yet to celebrate their 21st birthdays!) Ciara is currently finishing up her hotly anticipated sophomore disc, The Evolution.
