Colbie Caillat is often held up by confused music industry insiders as a perfect example of how young artists can use new media to get music out there without a record label. However, after she'd caught the attention of music fans, Colbie did sign with Universal Records, and her 2007 debut disc Coco was a perfect summer-pop gem.
