Jibbs (Jovan Campbell) is a rising rap singer out of St. Louis, renowned for his astounding lyrics and amazing music videos that have made him a very popular teenage rapper in the USA. He was born on November 13, 1990 in St. Louis, Missouri and started writing raps at the tender age of nine.
Jibbs hails from a family with a strong musical background in that his parents and older brothers were all associated with music. Though Jibbs also had great taste towards music, he focused more on boxing in his younger years. In fact, Jibbs accomplished remarkable achievements in the aggressive boxing world by becoming Golden Glove Champion twice. But it was by an attempt to help and impress his brother, DJ Beatz that he began writing rap for the first time. His older brother who was engaged in producing tracks for Chingy and Nelly was so astonished by Jibb's work that he invited him to associate with him in the recording studio. The tracks that were distributed locally soon gained popularity beyond St. Louis and were recognized by industry executives. This paved the way for Jibb's career advance.
Soon afterwards, he signed with Geffen Records and in 2006 released his single song debut "Chain Hang Low" that became so popular that it earned a place on the top 10 list of Billboard's Hot 100. It also became the most admired rap download on iTunes in 2006 (August 24). "King Kong," "Go Too Far" and "Smile" are his second, third and fourth singles. Almost immediately, Jibbs released his next album "Jibbs feat.Jibbs" which was listed at no.11 on the Billboard 200, and earned the next-to-blow award at the Ozone Awards. Around 47,000 copies of "Jibbs feat.Jibbs" were sold in the first week of its release.
At 15, Jibbs has now become one of the youngest pop singers to enjoy enviable success in the world of hip-hop music, along with the popular singer Chris Brown.
