American Idol winner Jordin Sparks is known for delivering classic Pop ballads with an R&B edge. Sparks was the youngest person to win American Idol at the age of 17, during the show's sixth season. She was raised in Glendale, AZ, by former Dallas Cowboys left cornerback and former New York Giants defensive back, Phillippi Sparks. Even though Sparks had no formal training, she started performing as a toddler and continued to do so throughout her youth. As a young teen, Sparks took on singing, acting, and modeling. In 2002, she performed as Coca Cola's Rising Star, and made her recording debut in 2003. In 2004, she won two awards at the Gospel Music Association Academy, took second place at the Music in the Rockies competition, and appeared on America's Most Talented Kids. It was clear that Sparks was no stranger to winning, based on her talent before reaching nationwide success on American Idol. In 2006, she began her work as a model, modeling for the plus size Torrid clothing line, and was even featured in a Torrid ad placed in Seventeen magazine. After winning Idol, her debut single "This is My Now" was released. She then went on the American Idol tour and released an album in 2008. So far, Jordan is scoring tons of hit singles and grabbing the spotlight without any problem.
