Born in March 25, 1975, Juvenile (Terius Gray) is a famous New Orleans based hot rapper. Juvenile started rapping at the age of ten. Juvenile has a major role in setting a new music standard for New Orleans's hip-hop music scene. Presently, he is residing in Atlanta, Georgia with his fellow UTP artists.
In 1995, Juvenile's debut album on Warlock records, "Being Myself," was released. The hit song from the album, "Bounce for the Juvenile," gave a new energetic singing style ("bounce") to the southern rap style. In 1997, the second album was released by the Cash Money Label, "Solja Rags" (gold certified), which became an underground hit.
The popularity of "Solja Rags" set the stage for another album under the same label, "400 Degreez" (4x platinum certified), in 1999. The singles "Back That Azz Up" and "Ha" set a new direction for southern hip-hop music. As the fame of Juvenile was increasing, The Cash Money Records reissued "Solja Raags" nationally in 1999. The same year, Warlock Records also released the remix version of "Being Myself." He released another album in 1999, "Tha G-Code," but the album did not chart.
Two years later, in 2001, another album, "Project English," was released under the Cash Money label. The album features the hit singles "Mamma Got Ass" and "Set it Off." In 2002, Juvenile left Cash Money Records and formed a new label, UTP Records
(a union of uptown rappers). He released the album, "The Compilation," under the new label. In 2003 he rejoined Cash Money Records and released another album, "Juve the Great." The song "Slow Motion" in this album hit the music charts and reached no.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
In 2006, his latest album, "Reality Check", was released and it rated no.1 in the Billboard 200 music chart. The album get noticed for its guest appearances by famous rappers including Mike Jones, Fat Joe, Paul Wall, Ludacris, Brian McKnight, Bun B, 8-Ball and Skip. The single "What Happenin" became famous with New Orleans and New York music remixes. The upcoming album, "Diary of a Soulija", is expected to be released in 2007, November.
