Kia Shine, a native of Memphis, Tennessee in the US is a popular producer turned rap artist. His first album 'Due Season' is set for release on 31st July, 2007. Hit numbers from the album include: "Respect My Fresh," "See You Looking," "Stunna Shades," "Respect My Grind," and "Krispy." nnNakia Shine Coleman (Kia Shine) was born and raised in Memphis, in the notorious Frazier neighborhood. Unlike many other residents there, he resisted the addiction to crack and other perils of the streets. As a child, he listened to and was deeply influenced by songs from Womack & Womack, Willie Hutch, David Ruffin, Kurtis Blow, and Eric B & Rakim among others. He initially worked for Harris Entertainment, a casino conglomerate and was successful there. nnAs a music producer, Kia Shine initially devoted all his time and money to a music release project by younger brother L.I. The CD wasn't much of a hit. Luck shined on Kia Shine when an executive who happened to meet him was impressed by his managerial abilities and called him to New York. Kia Shine played him some music pieces from L.I.'s third album. The executive liked just one beat but Kia Shine gladly sold it to him. nnKia Shine created beats of his own. He jointly founded Rap Hustlers Entertainment with budding enterpriser Jack Frost. His reputation as a music producer grew and he got signed on with Ruff Ryders and Universal Music for production and publishing deals respectively. Back home in Memphis, Kia Shine was instrumental in making Rap Hustlers one of Memphis' most triumphant independent labels (over 200,000 units sold) by signing on some really big underground artists (like Criminal Mane, La Chat, and Yo Gotti). nnKia Shine was not getting his due in terms of income and artists were abandoning him so Kia Shine decided to become a rapper himself. He clinched a deal with Universal Motown Records for his maiden album "Due Season" release. The album has some really good numbers that are sure to keep you glued to the radio. nnKia has featured on several big Southern underground hits like "Round & Round," "South Soldiers" and "TVs" (with Kingpin Skinny Pimp and 8 ball). This year, he won an award for Independent Artist of the Year (Southern Entertainment Awards).
