Klaxon are the successful new band from London with four members, Jamie Reynolds, James Righton, Simon Taylor-Davis, and Steffan Halperin. The band has been active since 2005 and plays music in the alternative rock style, also known as Indie Rock, and the new rave style of music that is similar to the American dancepunk genre. The Klaxons have been described as "acid-rave sci-fi punk-funk" by HMV and the band's songs often have supernatural and magical themes.nnKlaxon member Simon Davis who was studying Fine Art at the Nottingham Trent University was first approached by Jamie Reynolds. James Righton, a Cardiff University graduate later joined the other two to form the band. Steffan Halperin, the drummer, was the last to join the band. The Klaxons have recently won the "best new band" Shockwave NME (New Music Express) Award for 2007. The Klaxons are signed to Rinse records in the UK, Geffen/DGC Records in US, Modular Records in Australia and Because Music in France. nnThe Klaxons have already had a taste of very early success. Their NME Indie Rave Tour saw the famous jazz music venue in London, Hammersmith Palais, sold out in just two days. They have also had a very successful tour of Europe, Japan and Australia last year. Recently they have been touring the US and the UK and it has been a sell out all the way. The Klaxons have also been participating in various music festivals in Ireland and in the UK. nnThe Klaxons' debut single, "Gravity's Rainbow" is found on the band's debut album. Released in March 2006 on Angular Records, it had sold only 500 copies. Later in June came their second single, "Atlantis to Interzone" that got good coverage from the radio and the music magazine NME. The band's first EPs was also released later that year in October 2006. The first single called "Golden Skans" reached the number 7 position in the UK Singles Chart and the band performed live on the BBC Radio1 live Lounge.
