About Lee Greenwood
Lee Greenwood is a country and pop singer/songwriter from California who is best known for his song "God Bless the USA." His peak of success came in the 1980's when he released Inside Out (1982), Somebody's Gonna Love You (1983), Meant for Each Other (1984), You've Got a Good Love Comin (1984), Christmas to Christmas (1985), Streamline (1985), Love Will Find Its Way to You (1986), If There's Any Justice (1987) and This is My Country (1988). It was the singles from these releases that captivated his audience and made him known for his particular brand of country-pop that was, at the time, still a very fresh idea. The subsequent fifteen albums released after the 1980's were not as well received considering that until 1987 most singles reached no. 1 in the United States charts, however they have all charted within the top 100 and for the most part did so within the top 50 or 60. Lee Greenwood took country music to a new level in the time of his most popular releases, and yet today those songs are viewed with a more traditionalist perspective. After all, the last two decades have seen country music evolve into even more of a pop culture in its own right, with artists mixing genres to get the sounds and melodies they are looking for. Greenwoods music now serves as a kind of stepping stone from which other, modern country artists take off; he sings about the love of his country, the love of a man for a woman and Christmas as a religious and touching time of year. This is run of the mill stuff for a country artist, however he did and continues to do it in such a way as to almost remind one of the earlier days of country music when these were the only topics that were touched on.
