Originally formed in Florida but now based in California, New Found Glory is a pop-punk band that formed in 1997 and rocketed to fame after its work on the Vans Warped Tour in 2001. Before signing onto the Tour, however, the band did a great job impressing record producers and drumming up sales for their first EP, later re-pressed with Drive-Thru Records. The band has released six records to date: Nothing Gold Can Stay (1999), New Found Glory (2000), Stick and Stones (2004), Catalyst (2004), Coming Home (2006) and very soon From the Screen to Your Stereo Part II (due out fall 2007). The singles "Hit or Miss" and "My Friends Over You" hit big with the American youth who, after being exposed to the likes of Blink 182 and other similar bands, were ready to step right into the pop punk genre and lift New Found Glory right up to the top of the charts. "Hit or Miss" charted at no. 16 on the US Modern Rock chart in 2001; "My Friends Over You" hit no. 5 the following year, and "All Downhill from Here" made it to no. 11 in 2004 after a slight dip at no. 28 with "Head on Collision" in 2002. The latest singles have not charted, however, the band still enjoys a huge following in the United States and Canada and has recently joined the Vans Warped Tour again in 2007. As usual, New Found Glory was a big crowd puller during the Tour. Their brand of pop vocals, punk-inspired guitar riffs, and a fast pace always gets the crowd going, gets people moving and ultimately gets the concert tickets sold; lowered album sales aren't likely to disband these guys any time soon.
