About Paulina Rubio

Paulina Rubio ringtones The striking Paulina Rubio is Mexico's reigning queen of pop. The daughter of the popular actress Susana Dosamantes, she started her career with the Mexican 80's act Timbiriche. The young pop band was made up mostly of Mexican celebrity children and they recorded an astounding 11 albums. Young Paulina always stood out and became a fan favorite. Timbiriche starred in a Mexican production of the musical Grease and Paulina went on to play rolls in several hit telenovelas, most notably Passion y Poder. In 1991, Rubio set off on her own and signed with EMI Latin. Fortunately, she took her devoted fans with her and her solo debut, La Chica Dorada went a staggering 10X platinum. It also supplied her nickname, and to this day Paulina is known affectionately as "the golden girl." Singles included her signature tune "Mio" and the tragic "Amor de Mujer." Her follow-up, 24 Kilates kept the hits coming and 1995's El Tiempo Es Oro included her signature romantic ballad "Te Daria Mi Vida." She was offered her own telenovela, Planeta Paulina, in 1995 and her soundtrack album of the same name was her final EMI Latin record. Her years on the label, 1991-1996, are considered by fans to be her best. In 1999 she came back with a new look, less pop idol and more serious musician. In 2002 she released her first English language record, Border Girl, which made it to 11 on Billboard's Hot 100. It got Paulina Rubio MTV play and won her international fans who were attracted to her confidant vocals and catchy hooks.
