Dark new things on the block She Wants Revenge brought sinister synths and cold vocals to their bitter break-out single, "These Things." The duo made up of Tim-Burton-coifed vocalist Justin Warfield and club DJ Adam Brevin met in LA after Warfield's musical interest shifted from hip hop to rock. The band's Joaquin Phoenix directed video got them a national buzz and their intense live show proved that they'd earned it. They channel Ian Curtis and Joy Division a serious influence on their second smash single, "Tear Us Apart." They hired ace producer Michael Patterson who has manned the boards for everyone from Beck to the Notorious B.I.G. to give their self-titled debut disc a clean, menacing sound. Their moody synthesizer lines and tense beats compliment the lyrics as Warfield tells tales of twisted romances and vicious modern life, his vocals shifting from breathy gasps to a wounded snarl in as much time as it takes the music to switch from verse to chorus. As a follow-up to their catchy first album She Wants Revenge were enlisted by goth genius Danny Elfman for a cover track on the 2006 reissue of the soundtrack to his cult Tim Burton collaboration The Nightmare Before Christmas. She Wants Revenge have headlined New York's prestigious Coney Island Siren Music Festival, as well as winning fans at Lollapalooza and Coachella and opening for their own personal idols Depeche Mode on a recent tour. She Wants Revenge are the perfect soundtrack for getting psyched up to hit one of those dangerous parties where you know your ex is gonna be too, and you just have to look good enough to break them.
