The group Panic! At the Disco (PATD), renowned for the song 'A Fever You Can't Sweat Out,' their first musical score, sprang up in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their music is a blend of pop, rock, dance and electronica. The origin of the band's name can be traced to The Smith's song entitled 'Panic' with a line that goes 'burn down the disco.' Their debut album reached the 13th spot on the Billboard 200 of July 2006. The group presently has four members: Jon Walker, Ryan Ross, Spencer Smith and Brendon Urie. The band initially had just two members: Spencer Smith (drummer) and Ryan Ross (guitarist). Adopting the name 'Summer League,' the duo often played Blink-182 covers in several band formations. With the entry of members Brendon Urie (vocals, guitar) and Brent Wilson (bass), the group decided on the name 'Panic! At The Disco.' PATD, in search of a label to support them, got in touch with Pete Wentz, the bassist for Fall Out Boy. He made them sign a contract with his label Decaydance. On 27th September, 2005 'A Fever You Can't Sweat Out' was released. The video for 'I Write Sins Not Tragedies,' featured on MTV's Total Request Live, secured the MTV Video Music Award for the year 2006 as Video of The Year. Other songs from the album are 'But It's Better If You Do,' and 'Build God, Then We'll Talk,' and 'Lying Is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off.' After Brent Wilson left, Jon Walker, the band's good friend stepped in as a temporary bassist for their first publicized European tour. Their tour of North America included performances by Lucent Dossier Vaudeville Cirque, The Dresden Dolls, and The Hush Sound. In late 2006, the band did a world tour covering continental Europe, New Zealand, and Australia. In November, the band opened their inaugural arena tour with a bang, performing with Jack's Mannequin and Bloc Party. PATD often bring a troupe of dancers and contortionists who brighten the stage when the band performs. The band is currently recording their second album due for release only in early 2008.
