The Almost is an alternative music band from Salt Lake City, led by Aaron Gillespie, a drummer and occasional lead singer of the Christian metalcore band Underoath. It is a side project of Aaron in which he plays all the music instruments except bass in some songs. On October 1, 2005, he made a music page for the band.nnOn October 4, 2005, Aaron released two of his songs that were the demos: "They Say You Can Never Write" and "I Mostly Like to Copy Other People." He worked with Nick Demeas and Kenny Vasoli to record a song called "Yule Be Sorry" for the album Happy Christmas volume 4.nnOn November 7, 2006, The Almost released their first song, "Johnny Cash," under the Tooth & Nail record label. The band embarked on the tour program "It's All Happening" from December 17 to January 20, 2006 joined by the guitarists Dusty Redmon and Jay Vilardi, bassist Alex Aponte, and drummer Kenny Bozich. The tour displayed the latest songs from the forthcoming album "Southern Weather."nnOn March 19, 2007, the band released their first video for "Say This Sooner." The band's debut album, Southern Weather, was released on April 3, 2007. It hit the U.S. Billboard charts at 39, selling about 29,000 copies in the first week. The first single, "Say This Sooner," can be heard on the bands' PureVolume and MySpace pages together with "I Mostly Copy Other People" and the demo version of "Never Say I Told You So."
