DJ Unk was born in 1982. His birth name was Anthony Platt. A popular rapper, he is also known by the names Unk, DJ Unk, DJ Unknown, and Unknown. In 1998, at the age of 16, he started to spin records. He met DJ Jelly and DJ Montay and continued to work with DJ Entourage, all locally well-known Southern Style DJ's. In the state of Georgia, they started to perform at certain events like high school parties, proms, and pep rallies. In 2000, Big Oomp, who was very impressed by Unk's talent signed him to his label called Big Oomp Records. His first album was "Beat'n Yo Down Block" which was released on October 3, 2006. For the debut single "Walk It Out" from the album, he got gold certification from the RIAA (Recording Industry of American Association) and for the album platinum. In 2006, Atlanta DJ and Unk performed in the spotlight with the hit single "Walk It Out." The idea for this debut single originated in Bankhead at the Pool Palace where he met a girl who inspired him to compose this single. This was his first debut single and it became immensely popular. In 2006, he performed the song in the 1st Annual BET Hip Hop Awards. The "2 Step" was his second single which was released on January 2007. He is an optimist and hopes to achieve some positive results through the medium of music. He is trying to say something which will be useful for young generations of hip hop fans. They will grasp the idea quickly if it is conveyed by way of music. His ambition is to work with Ludacris, Outkast, his home boy Jim Jones, Dipset and others. "Hit The Dance Floor" was the third single off Unk's "Beat'n Yo Down Block" album. It was recorded in 2006, but has not yet been released. It will be released in the label Koch Records.
