You don't have to have long hair and tattoos to enjoy our Rock music videos clips! Thumbplay makes it easy to download the best available for mobile. Let me break down a list of some of the favorites:
For the EMO Rockers…The All-American Rejects have delivered their huge hit 'Move Along', together with their earlier single 'Dirty Little Secret', which is a great video for those on the down-low…catch my drift? Fall Out Boy's Thnks fr th Mmrs has been a favorite for those trying to tell someone to ‘have a nice life’.
There are videos whose songs you can currently hear in tv commercials… like Shiny Toy Guns' 'Le Disko' and Sublime's 'Santeria'. Those two have gotten a lot of play in the past few months. Sound familiar?
In the Hard Rock arena…Papa Roach's 'Last Resort' and AFI's 'Love Like Winter' deliver a hard punch.
On the Pop side, there are videos you MUST know… Hinder's 'Lips Of An Angel' is probably the most recognizable among Thumbplayers. Dashboard Confessional's 'Stolen' and 3 Doors Down 'Here Without You' are the heart-breakers (sighhhh). Then there is The Killers' 'Somebody Told Me' and so many great ones from Weezer like 'Beverly Hills', 'Undone The Sweater Song', 'Say It Ain’t So' and 'Hash Pipe'. Tell me you haven’t heard any of those before?
Of course, there are a good dose of the Classics…Tom Petty's 'Don’t Come Around Here No More', The Fixx's 'One Thing Leads To Another', New Radicals' 'You Get What You Give', Bon Jovi's 'Wanted Dead Or Alive', Hanson's 'MMMBop' and Extreme's sappy but lovable 'More Than Words'. Geez, remember those?
And last but not least, there’s ummm… The Pink Spiders' 'Little Razorblade' and New Found Glory's 'It’s Not Your Fault'. I won’t really say much about those two. You’ll just have to check them out for yourself…

The question has remained unanswered: 'Why do music artists often change their name?' At some point in their career, certain artists feel a need to take on a new identity, create an alias or just show the world that they’ve grown up. This often creates chaos for fans and record companies alike.The issue for record labels is how record stores, on-line retailers and ringtone companies will cope with the changes. It affects their alphabetical placement in retail sections and on artist pages, as well as causing plenty of marketing nightmares. For fans, it just gets down-right confusing! lol!
There are those artists who have made complete identity changes. Ol’ Dirty Bastard from the Wu-Tang Clan surprised his fans when he changed his name to Big Baby Jesus. Prince baffled just about everyone when he changed his name to a symbol. Garth Brooks took on the persona of 'Chris Gaines'. And of course, Sean Combs switched it up many times, when he went from Puff Daddy to P. Diddy then to just “Diddy”.
Artists have also been known to take on aliases. There was Notorious B.I.G. aka 'Biggie Smalls', Jay-Z who goes by the nicknames of 'Hova', Jay Hova' and 'Young Hov' and more recently Down who currently has the hit ringtone 'Lean Like A Cholo' is also known as “Kilo”.
For many rappers that come into the spotlight at an early age, some wind-up dropping the “Lil” or the “Young” from their title. Lil Romeo became “Romeo” and Lil Bow Wow is now “Bow Wow”. Snoop Doggy Dogg of course, graduated himself to just “Snoop Dogg” or “Big Snoop Dogg” as he’s sometimes referred to.
Who’s going to be next? Will Young Jeezy switch to just “Jeezy”. Will Lil Wayne simply become “Wayne”? What about Lil Flip and Young Dro? We’ll follow this issue and report back to you!

It's a cold one in New York today. Yesterday the cool air made it's first extra chilly visit this fall. I had the privilege of spotting this hot dog puppy strutting his stuff near Union Square yesterday.

For fans that can’t get enough of Beavis and Butt-Head, ringtones from their early 90's CD compilation The Beavis and Butt-Head Experience, have now been released. Ringtones include songs from The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Aerosmith, Run-D.M.C., and Sir Mix-A-Lot. One of the most talked about tones is the Chili Peppers’ “Search and Destroy”. The song is a cover version, originally recorded by Iggy Pop and The Stooges.
For those who aren’t familiar with Iggy Pop, he is one of the punk heroes of the early 70’s, who originally came on to the music scene with his band The Stooges. During his solo career, he wrote numerous hits, including “Lust For Life” and “China Girl”, which David Bowie also co-wrote and recorded. The song he's best known for as a solo artist, is the punk anthem “Real Wild Child”. Recently, Iggy has been seen on Bam Margera’s show performing the classic “My Idea Of Fun”, which he released with the reunited Stooges in 2006.
Iggy, who has been nicknamed “The Godfather of Punk”, has influenced his contemporaries Siouxsie and The Banshees, Sonic Youth, Dead Kennedys and Black Flag. His sound is still alive today through bands like Green Day, The Donnas and Gogol Bordello.

The new single from Timbaland titled Apologize features One Republic, a Pop band who's gained major notoriety through the internet. It was via the web that the Colorado natives caught the attention of Mosley Music, Timbaland’s label. Of course, it didn’t hurt that the band’s lead singer Ryan Tedder was already busy in Los Angeles, writing and producing songs for the likes of Paul Oakenfold, t.A.T.u., Lil' Jon and Bubba Sparxxx. The band, who have been compared to piano-based groups like Keane, Coldplay and veteran rockers U2, will be releasing their album titled Dreaming Out Loud in mid November.
The single "Apologize" was written by One Republic and will be featured on their debut release. Timbaland’s version (and current single) is actually a remix of the original. It's been climbing up the charts and has recently become one of Thumbplay's top-selling ringtones.
Most people will recognize that the Timbaland version is laced with his distinct sound. The smooth vocal melody, sung by Ryan Tedder, is reminiscent of a young Elton John with a little Justin Timberlake in the hook.
Besides being a great cut of the song, the ringtone is actually perfect for when an ex calls. What could be better than a customized tone for an ex? lol!
Timbaland is a celebrated Pop and Hip-Hop producer, who has worked with numerous major label artists. He found success early in his career working with artists like Missy Elliott, Aaliyah and Magoo. He later went on to work with top rappers Ludacris and Jay-Z. His recent collaborations include Pop stars Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake and 80's sensation Duran Duran.

Watching this I can't help but feel nostalgic. My favorite ringtone on Thumbplay is this Beavis and Butthead track, "Come to Butthead." Complete with Beavis and Butthead's signature laugh.
There's also a really silly country song I found - Erika Jo's "I Break Things". Pick this ringtone if you need to declare your destructive side. It's simply smashing!

Since the birth of popular music, female artists have maintained a constant prescence in the music world. Throughout the decades, there are those special few that come along to help change the face of music, inspiring future generations.Aretha Franklin emerged as what many people consider to be the 'First Diva’. She was a pioneer who defined soul music. Also, leading the way were Motown artists like Diana Ross and The Supremes. Dionne Warwick also enjoyed a good amount of success.
In the 70's, a young Ann Wilson with her band Heart emerged onto the rock scene. Ann’s voice was so strong that she was often compared to Led Zeppelin front man, Robert Plant. She paved the way for the many female rock bands that would soon follow.
Whitney Houston and Janet Jackson dominated the 80's with numerous Top 40 radio hits. In this decade, many Divas from the past, re-vived their careers in the form of duets. Patti LaBelle, Diana Ross, Aretha and Cher all scored duets with the top males artists of the time. Tina Turner also returned to sell millions of copies of her solo album "Private Dancer" .
The early 90's brought two of the hottest Pop/R&B Divas of all-time, Mary J. Blige and Mariah Carey. With mentors Andre Harrell and Sean “Puffy” Combs helping to mold her sound, Mary was off to a stellar start. She released five smash hits in the first two years of her career and was deemed the "Queen of Hip-Hop Soul". Mariah Carey achieved the most number one hits for any female artist. She has had success as a singer, an actress and remains one of the top voices in music.
Today, Nelly Furtado, Britney Spears, Rihanna, Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera and Fergie all dominate the radio airwaves, video markets and the fashion industry. With the advent of Ringtones and digital sales now coming into play, the new media has catapulted their status to new measures and has helped to broaden their fan base.

The Halloween season is upon us. The American holiday associated with ghosts, monsters, candy, trick-or-treating and scary costumes is celebrated annually and often commemorated with Halloween-themed movies and music.In the music world, rock groups like The Dead Kennedys, Siouxsie And The Banshees and Sonic Youth have payed tribute to the holiday with songs titled “Halloween”.
Although, when it comes to music artists who embody the spirit of the holiday, a few immediately come to mind. Rob Zombie is one such artist, famous for his songs titled “American Witch,” “Living Dead Girl”, “Demon Speeding” and the Munster-inspired song "Dragula". Alice Cooper is another artist who has adopted a similar eerie theatrical persona. He came into fame with hits like “No More Mr. Nice Guy”, “Teenage Frankenstein” and “Prince Of Darkness”. The Misfits are a band that have a history of incorporating Halloween into their lifestyle and music. Their many songs include titles like “Hate The Living, Love The Dead’, “Dig Up Her Bones” and “Crimson Ghost”.
Mannheim Steamroller is well-known for making Holiday music. Renowned for their synth Christmas hit “Deck The Halls”, which is played on the radio every Christmas season, they also have a catalog of creepie Halloween tunes. But it seems that the most recognizable song of all, is Bobby Boris Pickett’s “Monster’s Holiday”, which has become a staple of the season.
Halloween can never be complete without the annual screenings of fright movies that are shown on Television all season long. A few beloved classics are the Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds”, Boris Karloff in “The Bride Of Frankenstein” and of course, Bela Lugosi in Dracula.
Television shows from the sixties are also staples of the season that are shown in re-runs all year long. “The Munsters” and “The Addam’s Family” continue to be discovered by new generations each year.

What is it about the Lohan that gets everyone so chatty? I've heard some things about her crazy relationships and her scandalous party hard lifestyle, but Lindsay makes it perfectly clear that she's tired of all those rumors.
Sometimes it's hard to tell if celebrities like Lindsay Lohan want you to pay attention to them, or if they're so sick of the hysteria that they just want their fame to be over.

Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls or "PCD" as they're known, has embarked on a solo venture with the release of a new album that’s full of pop hits. For this freshman endeavor, she recruited some of the top names in the music world. Her first single “Whatever U Like” featured Atlanta rapper T.I. and was produced by Polow Da Don, who has worked with some of today’s hottest artists like Young Jeezy, Gwen Stefani, Mariah Carey, Young Buck and Ciara. Another contributing member on the album is Timbaland. He and Nicole originally worked together on the PCD song “Wait A Minute” for which he also appeared in the video.
Nicole has currently geared up for her second single “Baby Love” which features Black Eyed Peas member and producer will.i.am. The single is now blazing up the charts and the ringtone is becoming a Thumbplay favorite.
Nicole was originally brought to the Pussycat Dolls by music industry legend Ron Fair, who has been responsible for discovering artists like Fergie, Vanessa Carlton, Keyshia Cole and Christina Aguilera, just to name a few. Before joining the Pussycat Dolls, she was in the 90’s group Eden’s Crush, which achieved mild success.

Salt-n-Pepa Make A Comeback
Old School rap group Salt-n-Pepa have recently re-surfaced after a long hiatus. It seems that people can’t get enough of their new tv reality show, which features Sandra "Pepa" Denton and Cheryl “Salt” Wray. Along with their DJ “Spinderella” (Dee Dee Roper), Salt-n-Pepa became one of the most successful all-female Rap groups in the mid 80’s, spanning throughout the late 90's.
Their many hit songs included “Push It”, “Let’s Talk About Sex” and “Whatta Man” which featured R&B divas En Vogue. In the early 2000's, the group eventually disbanded, due to Cheryl’s health problems.
Now, old and new fans alike can once again get their fill of the girls, through the release of their ringtones.

Legally Blonde - Broadway's New Hit!
Everyone's raving about the new Broadway play Legally Blonde! The show is so popular that it has already been nominated seven times for a Tony™ award, since its opening in late April of this year. Laura Bell Bundy who stars as the show's lead character Elle Woods, is also a Tony™ nominee. The show has received so many great reviews, that it is projected to join the ranks of long-running Broadway hits like Phantom Of The Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar and Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
We here at Thumbplay predict great things for Laura Bell Bundy, who's spectacular voice have made the show’s ringtones hot-sellers. She might just be one of those rare vocalists who make the transition from the Broadway stage to the Pop music world.
There have been a number of vocalists who have actually done the reverse; Donny Osmond, Kiss’ Paul Stanley and Skid Row’s Sebastian Bach have all achieved success as Pop stars first and then later on in their careers took on Broadway.

Chuck Norris vs The Hoff
Hollywood movie star, Karate black belt, and all-around tough guy Chuck Norris is everywhere these days. He’s been popping up in soda commercials ads, television shows and infomercials. It seems there is no escaping him.Anyone who is familiar with Chuck, knows that he is comparable to a modern-day Bruce Lee. Although the strange cult following he’s acquired makes him more comparable to tv’s David Hasselhoff.
At least one thing that distinguishes Norris from Hasselhoff is the fact that Norris doesn’t insist on singing! But for as much flack as Hasselhoff catches for his songs, he has sold an astonishing number of records world-wide!

Model, singer and internet sensation Tila Tequila now has her own tv reality show which premiered the other night. Thirty-two contestants, men and women, compete to win Tila's love. Like any good reality show, it's jam-packed full of surprises. Check out Tila's smokin hot wallpapers.
Tila is not the first celebrity to have a dating show. Her predecessors include:
- Poison's lead singer Bret Michaels and
- Public Enemy hype-man Flavor Flav.

Hey, it's Steve (aka "stevojello") from Thumbplay here. Last night I caught the hilarious "Blue Harvest" episode of Family Guy on tv, which is actually a Star Wars spoof.My favorite part was when old man Herbert played the organ and sang The Waitresses' hit "I Know What Boys Like" - and now I can't get it out of my head! That song makes a fun ringtone, and it's a hundred times funnier when I think about the old man singing it.
Our Stewie ringtone is pretty awesome too. Last night he played a killer Darth Vader!

Oh no! Thumbs Up has been fooled. It has been revealed to us that Thumbplay member Bean spotted a Bono impersonator! Guess we still haven't found what we're looking for.
