Bad Boy Snoop

It seems that Snoop Dogg has been banned from entering the U.K. He recently ran into some trouble, when his entourage started a reported brawl in London's Heathrow Airport.

Whatever hardship Snoop is facing right now still doesn't change the fact that his new Video for Sensual Seduction is topping the charts. The ringtone as well as the mobile video clip are blowing up cell phones everywhere.

It's OK Snoop, we're still here for you in the U.S.!

Discover Beirut

Nope, not the capitol of Lebanon, and not that beer pong game - I'm talking about the band. Beruit is headed by 22-year-old Santa Fe native Zach Condon. He takes advantage of a variety of instruments and beautiful sounds. Beirut is soft, sweet, folksy indie rock. It can also be described as Balkan Gypsy music. I'll bet you don't hear a ton of that on your phone, do you?

Discover Beirut on Thumbplay with these great ringtones:
- Nantes
- A Sunday Smile
- The Penalty

Tones To Bounce To

There are plenty of great tones from top artists that you may not be too familiar with. They're cuts from the album that weren't released as singles yet... but they're still awesome!

Check out these...

On the Hip-Hop front... Playaz Circle "Betta Knock", Lil Wayne's hood-inspired "Only Way" and J. Holiday's jam "Falling".

Lifehouse "Make Me Over"... it's amazing how many good songs these guys have! Taylor Swift "I'm Only Me When I'm With You" and for a zinger...Paul McCartney's "Goodnight Tonight" (OK, this one was released as a single long ago, but it I had to throw in here).

Southern Pride

If you're from the south, there are plenty of ways to represent your southern pride.

Lil Wayne's recently leaked songs have just been officially released. His song "Gossip" saw tons of play on mix tapes in different local neighborhoods and is now available as a ringtone.

Fellow Cash Money millionaire Birdman has scored a huge hit with his recent video "Pop Bottles" and it's blowing up on cell phones everywhere.

Although there are so many Rap artists on our site, I know some of you also enjoy good Rock music too. If you're looking for a deep southern groove, nothing's more mean+nasty than John Fogerty's "The Old Man Down The Road".
Tom Petty, who will be playing the Superbowl, has had an enoromous amount of hits. "Refugee" and "A Woman In Love" are some of his best.
Some other southern pleasures are .38 Special's "Caught Up In You" and of course the #1 selling southern Rock group of all, 'Skynyrd with "Sweet Home Alabama" and "What's Your Name".

Cyrus Fever

If you know anything about what's cool with the younger set these days, you know about Hannah Montana. Hannah is a singing Disney character played by Miley Cyrus. If you're a Miley/Hannah fan, check out her hit: Rock Star.

You can also get classic tones from Hannah's daddy, Billy Ray Cyrus.
Try the classic "Achy Breaky Heart" or this father daughter duet, Ready, Set, Don't Go.

Themetastic Tones

There's a variety of great theme songs available on thumbplay.com. Here are some of my favorite picks:

- Transformers Theme
- Theme from Shaft
- Beetlejuice Theme
- Pink Panther Theme
- Super Mario Bros Theme

I think themesongs have such a great appeal as ringtones because they are nostalgic and definitely really playful.

Keepin' It Country

When it comes to Country music, there are certain tones I need to have with me all day long. If you ask me what my latest favorite is, I'm going to have to say it’s between Rascal Flatts' "Take Me There" which is just a great ‘feel-good’ tone and Trace Adkins' hit “I Got My Game On”, which I’m sure many guys out there already have on their phones.

Little Big Town'sBoondocks” is a good ol’ every day tone, while Hank Williams' "Mind Your Own Business" will take care of the days I’m not interested in really talking to anyone.

Though there are many newcomers that I love, like Ashton Shepard, I’m still a sucker for the classics. Marshall Tucker Band's "Heard It In A Love Song" is one of the great ones from way back.

Hope you're all having a good week!

Secret Confessions (shhhh...)

What happens when you put a bunch of hipsters on a roof and put a video camera in-front of their face? All their dirty little secrets come out.

In the new video reality series Rooftop Confessions, you can get everyone's story; no matter how controversial, vulgar or crazy.

I'm sure it must have felt so good for all the members of this series to finally confess their secrets. Be careful, because these videos get addictive.

Find out what terrible things Carol does to her ex-boyfriend, or what kind of mean prank Abby pulled on her classmate, or hear Maureen's embarrassing story.

I'd Love to Destroy Your Sweater

Adding to Steve's post about New Classics, I'll never forget hearing Weezer's Come Undone (The Sweater Song) when I was younger. Weezer had such a cool new sound and there was something kind of funny and quirky about them.

They had such a cool video too, which you can get on your cell phone here
.

Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo just put out a new solo album, which included a version of Buddy Holly. Ahh what great 90's music memories!

Already a Classic

As time goes on, music changes. In the early 80's, when Punk and Disco started to dissolve, New Wave came into existence. As keyboard-driven Pop died down later in that decade, Hair Bands came along and dominated Rock in the early 90’s. The mid 90’s brought along Grunge which turned into Hard Rock, giving way to today's artists. Throughout these different eras of music, there are classic songs that seem to slip the cracks of our memory. I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorite forgotten tunes; from the 90’s on. See if you recognize any of these not too distant hits

Possum Kingdom” by The Toadies

Closing Time” by Semisonic
The Impression That I Get” by The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Breakfast at Tiffany’s” by Deep Blue Something
Rest In Pieces” by Saliva
Stacy’s Mom” by Fountains of Wayne
All For You” by Sister Hazel

Woo-ed by the Wu

In 2007 the Wu-Tang Clan came back again with a great collection of new songs. There's a bunch of really cool new Wu-Tang ringtones on thumbplay and I just had a listen to them. I haven't heard the CD yet but from the sound of these ringtones they still have the authentic flavor that made them one of the most critically acclaimed and celebrated hip-hop acts of all time.

Check out these Wu ringtones:
- Life Changes
- Starter (GZA Verse)
- Wolves
- Stick Me For My Riches (Method Man Verse)

Obviously the Wu-Tang Clan still ain't nothing to ... "mess" with?

:)
