Today Is "Leap Day" and...

It's Leap Year and today is the 29th Day of February! We only see this day once every four years. What most people don't realize, is that today is also Sadie Hawkins day. Derived from a comic strip, today is a day dedicated for a girl to ask a boy of her choice out. This day is very popular in many colleges throughout the U.S.

So, in the spirit of Sadie Hawkins Day, why not drop hints when your mobile rings today? Lots of choices to give clues...

Jonas Brothers "Just Friends" is a popular tone to sport.
If you need to be blunt with your guy,
(as many girls do), try CheapTrick's
"I Want You To Want Me". If you're trying
to keep it on the down-low, All-American Rejects'
"Dirty Little Secret"might work.
Maybe you're feeling the love Alicia Keys puts out there in "No One", or maybe
"You Don't Know My Name" is the more appropriate choice.

Some of my favorite indie artists have ringtones available at Thumbplay. The selection is incredible! Explore some of my favorite picks:

Thurston Moore: Famous Sonic Youth frontman with hot experiemental solo rock album

Mark Ronson: The hottest producer out right now, mixes and redefines hip hop and pop beats

Portishead: One of my favorite acts of all time - their music defined the trip-hop trend and fans who have been dying for more finally get their wish with a new Portishead album coming out this year

Peter, Bjorn, and John: Their hit "Young Folks" has been heard everywhere over the past few months. Check out their playful, fun style

MGMT: This electronic duo bring the party with incredibly fun dance beats. Definitely a good choice for a ringtone.

Sufjan Stevens: This emo indie music darling writes songs so sweet and complex they make you want to curl up in a little ball and cry, but it's a good thing.

Tori Amos: Tori has been worshipped with a cult like following for over a decade now, and with good reason. Few songwriters exist like her these days. Her voice is beautiful and she can play the sh** out of a piano!

The Wrens: These Jersey rockers have been around since the 80s and quite simply, they create solid, gorgeous music.

Burial: Check out Burial for moody dance tracks

Elliott Smith: The death of Elliott Smith was all the more tragic when you hear the intensity of emotion in this singer/songwriter's voice. His music is heartfelt, genuine, and well-written.

Celebrate Valentine's Day


It's Valentine's Day and there are plenty of ways you can celebrate the love (or hate) you have for someone! For various selections, check out our Valentine's Day Page. There are plenty of ValenTones to adorn your mobile phone... graphics and animations too!

It seems that many people out there are in love with the Bear Heart graphic, but if that's too cutesy for you, Love Stinks might be more appropriate.

As far as love tones, there's no better ringtone for today than Stevie Wonder's I Just Called To Say I Love You. You can get ready for this evening with Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight or Marvin Gaye's Let's Get It On.

American Idol Buzzes About Ferras

"Hollywood's Not America", the new song from emerging artist Ferras is stirring up quite a buzz.

This singer/songwriter, reminiscent of a young Elton John, may be new to the scene, but he already landed a major score. American Idol chose his new catchy tune to be used as the farewell song, playing as contestants are dismissed from their Hollywood auditions.

The song will premiere on the show tonight, so be sure to watch… and don’t forget to sport the tone on your phone!

50 Cent Rumors

50 Cent has been trying to set the record straight lately, about the many relationship rumors surrounding him. Mr. Cent has been denying claims that there's nothing beyond a friendship between himself and singer Ciara. He's also denying ties linking him to Tracy Edmonds, Babyface's ex-wife. These accusations are similar to the rumors that were floating around Jay-Z and Beyonce, before they officially announced they were an item, a few years back.

Whatever the truth is, Mr. "I Get Money" is still macking hits from his latest album. "Still Will" with Akon is his latest smash... and there's plenty more coming.

Paul McCartney says Let Me Be!

Paul McCartney may be a victim false information and being too loved, but he is not a victim of clogged arteries. Recently calls and texts have been pouring in from well wishers to Paul due to a rumor spread by the media. Apparently after a recent medical checkup, reporters started saying that Paul underwent Angioplasty, a surgery to correct clogged arteries in the heart.

Paul says these rumors are false. Good - now leave him alone!
However, feel free to enjoy his music.
