Out of the early
70's came one of the greatest
Rock bands of the century...
Queen.
Brian May, Roger Taylor, John Deacon and the late Freddie
Mercury went on to make history by selling over 190 million albums to date.
Mercury and the boys released 15 studio albums, 6 live albums and racked-up numerous radio singles and
videos during their time together. Some of their hits are instantly recognizable; "
Bohemian Rhapsody", "
Another One Bites The Dust", "
We Are The Champions", "
You're My Best Friend", the list goes on and on. After
Mercury's death in 1991, the band went on to do a tribute concert for him on April 20, 1992; this was on the same stage which they recorded their famed
Queen Live At Wembley Stadium concert back in 1986 (
Mercury pictured in the album cover above). A few years after
Mercury died, John Deacon retired from the music business. But today, May and Taylor keep the
Queen name alive by touring and recording with Paul Rodgers (former lead singer of
Bad Company and
Free). Check out the following links:

Mercury,

With only two weeks remaining in the 2008
NFL Regular Season, the race to the playoffs have begun. In the AFC, the
Pittsburgh Steelers and
Tennessee Titans have both clinched playoff spots. In the NFC, only two teams have spots so far- the
New York Giants and
Arizona Cardinals. It will be exciting to see The Giants' primetime showdown against the
Carolina Panthers on Sunday night, since both teams share a record of 11-3. With seven teams battling for the last four spots, The Giants and Panthers seem to be the two top teams in the NFC right now. The big AFC showdown will be the Pittsburgh Steelers visiting the Tennesee Titans. Other key games this week are
Atlanta Falcons vs.
Minnesota Vikings,
Baltimore Ravens vs.
Dallas Cowboys. For many NFL fans, it's been nothing less than an exciting season.

Faith Hill has released a new album of
Xmas songs called
Joy To The World. Thumbplay has an exclusive tone from this collection, her version of "
O Holy Night". Given all the great
Holiday and
Country content we have on the site,
Faith's recording of this
classic is a wonderful addition. Be sure to 'ring' in the
Holidays with this title you won't find anywhere else. Her other tones from this album are: "
Holly Jolly Christmas", "
Silent Night, Holy Night!", "
Joy To The World", "
Little Drummer Boy" and "
A Baby Changes Everything".
I think it's worth mentioning that
Faith's husband
Tim McGraw also has an album out titled
Greatest Hits 3. It includes a number of his hits, along with the new single "
Let It Go".

As
Hanukkah approaches, now's a great time to celebrate with
ringtones,
graphics and
MP3's for your mobile phone. Some cool
graphics are the
3D Menorah, the
Neon Star of David, and the Colorful
Dreidel. For new
ringtones, check out
Songs In The Key Of Hanukkah; it features new takes on classic
songs. A seasonal favorite group is NYC's own
The Klezmatics, who have a number of fun
tones to celebrate
Hanukkah like "
Do The Latke Flip-Flop" and "
Honeyky Hanukkah". Billy Sherwood's
MP3 of "
Rockin' Hanukkah" is a well-known tune, heard on the
TV show "Brothers & Sisters". Speaking of
rockin'
Hanukkah songs, check out this
rocked up version of "
Spin The Dreidel" by Dave Feldstein. If traditional is more your style "
I Have a Little Dreidel"
MP3 by Wendie Colter might do. Happy
Hanukkah!

This time of year, lots of people are hearing familiar
Xmas songs on the radio. Everyone has their favorites, but sometimes it may be difficult to recognize the artist. To make it easy, I'd like to list the top holiday radio tunes. Maybe some of these will sound familiar...
Probably the most famous
Xmas radio song is
Mariah's "
All I Want For Christmas Is You". Every year, two versions of "
This Christmas" are often played; one is by
Chris Brown and the original version is by
R&B Legend
Donny Hathaway. I think everyone knows "
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" by The
Jackson 5, it's been around since the
70's. There are two instrumentals that are staples of the season, although you may not recognize the artists - the first is "
Carol Of The Bells" by
Trans-Siberian Orchestra and the other Is "
Deck The Halls" by
Mannheim Steamroller.
Al Green,
Luther Vandross and
Lou Rawls always hold down many
R&B Xmas favorites. "
Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" by
John Lennon is the original version of a song that so many artists cover each year. I can never escape hearing "
Christmas Wrapping" by
The Waitresses, but that's ok, it's actually my favorite. "
Little Saint Nick" by
The Beach Boys and "
Christmas Time" by
Bryan Adams are two
Pop radio favorites, although the biggest name in
Pop this time of year has to be
Josh Groban. As far as new releases,
Martina McBride has created a duet of
Blue Christmas with Elvis, and
Faith Hill has a brand new album of
Xmas songs.
Hope this list has helped identify some of the
Xmas hits you're hearing this year. Have a happy holiday season!

Akon has delivered another collection of slick
Pop tracks laced with flavors of
Hip Hop and
R&B.

A number of
singer/songwriters have recently come in to the spotlight. Coffee shops across the U.S. are breaking new artists while also introducing a new generation to catalog music from established artists. In NYC, I've had the pleasure of drinking high doses of French Roast while discovering new music. Here are some of my favorites, new and old:
Mary Chapin Carpenter tone: "
Bells Are Ringing",
Crowded House tone: "
Don't Stop Now",
James Taylor MP3: "
Shower The People",
Paul McCartney MP3: "
English Tea",
John Mayer tone: "
Free Fallin' (Live)",
Sarah McLachlan tone: "
U Want Me 2".Give a listen to all 6

On Sunday, MTV premiered it's new documentary on
Britney Spears called "Britney: For The Record". The footage contained revealing interviews on the Pop Star's life. Her album CIRCUS is out today and is set to put her back on top of the charts. The ringtone for her new single "
Womanizer" is as hot as the
video. I predict you'll be hearing a lot more from
Britney in the months to come.
Check the different cuts of "
Womanizer" here:

Tina Fey is hilarious! We've all seen her
Sarah Palin impression the past few months, but her show
30 Rock on
NBC is probably the funniest show on
TV right now. She brings the
comedy on
30 Rock mobile
video clips like: "
Work, Love, Freezing", "
Sharking" with
Tracy Morgan and "
Liz Lectures The Intern". Check out tones from
Tina Fey and the rest of the cast
