Our favorite NYC it-girl, Lady GaGa, the performance artist-turned-pop star, continues her white hot streak with the release of her new single, "Bad Romance.”" The single is the first track off the forthcoming album The Fame Monster, the follow-up to The Fame, her hugely popular debut album. The Fame has produced more #1 singles than any other female debut album: “Just Dance,” “Poker Face,” “LoveGame,” and “Paparazzi.” In Europe, Lady GaGa scored another hit with “Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say).”
The recent cancellation of her joint tour with Kanye West created an opportunity for Lady GaGa to launch here own world tour, The Monster Ball, scheduled to kick-off in Montreal at the end of this month. The tour is rumored to be overflowing with theatrics, a trademark that Lady GaGa picked up from her idols, David Bowie and Queen.
Don’t miss some our favorite Gaga recordings, the stripped down Cherrytree Sessions. The sessions showcase Ms. Gaga’s incredible voice and her gift for orchestrating the same song in multiple ways, including alternative performances of her hits “Poker Face,” “Just Dance” and “Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say).” Until the eagerly awaited new album is released later this month, catch Lady GaGa’s new single “Bad Romance” here at Thumbplay.

Thumbplay is the ONLY site where you can find exclusive mobile video clips of Whitney Houston's two new videos, "Million Dollar Bill" and "I Look To You." Her new single, the infectious hit “Million Dollar Bill,” was co-written with songstress Alicia Keys. The legendary Houston dropped her first single "I Look To You" back in July before hitting the promo circuit with appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show and Good Morning America.

The She Wolf title track, also released in Spanish as "Loba," is already topping the charts in North America, South America and Europe. Check out the cool alt tone cuts for "She Wolf (Breakdown)" and "Loba (Breakdown)."
Shakira broke onto the scene as a youngster, with her 1995 album Pies Descalzos. The album was Shakira’s first brush with stardom, producing several Latin hits, including “Donde Estas Corazon” and “Un Poco De Amor.” Her sophomore record, the album ¿Dónde Están los Ladrones? was Shakira’s international breakthrough, earning her several Latin Grammy® awards. Still one of the all-time best selling Latin records in the United States, ¿Dónde Están los Ladrones? garnered many hit singles, such as “Ciega Sordomuda,” “Tu” and “Eyes Like Yours (Ojos Asi).”
Shakira’s first English language LP, Laundry Service, launched the star into a stratospheric category along with other top-selling divas, reaching her highest position on the U.S. charts to date, with the hits “Whenever, Wherever” and “Suerte.” Her next two albums, the Spanish Fijación Oral Vol. 1, and its sister record, the English language Oral Fixation Vol. 2, became international sensations with the songs “La Tortura,” “Hips Don't Lie,” and “Illegal.”
The Kanye West buzz is still burning up the internet. Since his shocking disruption of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at Sunday's awards show, West has made several apologies to Ms. Swift, apparently not satiating the public’s interest in the story. Kanye first apologized via his Twitter account, followed by a televised apology on the new Jay Leno Show, plus a personal phone call made to Taylor Swift. You know you’re hot when the President weighs-in on the controversy!
For those of you catching-up on the brouhaha, Kanye West stormed the stage during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night. The reason for the disruption? Kanye wanted to proclaim his preference for Beyonce’s video, “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It).” Always the lady, Swift politely stepped aside while Kanye West was heckled by the crowd. In a display of her trademark class, Beyonce took the opportunity, when she won Video Of The Year for “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It),” to invite Taylor Swift on-stage to finish her speech.
After days of apologies, and Presidential off-the-cuff remarks, interest has piqued in the news of an upcoming Kanye West and Lady GaGa tour. Lady GaGa was responsible for some controversy of her own at Sunday’s wild show: during an elaborate dance sequence for the hit “Paparazzi,” Lady GaGa startled the crowd as her performance morphed into a horror movie-esque gore fest. The singer’s artistic production was interpreted by some as an homage to Michael Jackson’s "Thriller," and Madonna’s famous 1980’s MTV VMA performance of “Like A Virgin.”
From Kanye West's disruption of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech, to Lady GaGa's shocking, horror-themed performance, the MTV Video Music Awards fulfilled its promise to be the most buzz-worthy awards show of the year. The night’s excitement, MC'd by Wale, was topped off with tons of memorable live performances from Beyonce, Pink, Pitbull, Muse, 3OH!3, The All-American Rejects, and an encore by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys.
More excitement ensued when Lady GaGa appeared to be injured during her elaborate dance sequence for her hit “Paparazzi.” In fact, it was all part of the dramatic, gory performance which morphed into horror movie madness, interpreted by some as an homage to Michael Jackson’s "Thriller" and Madonna’s famous 1980’s MTV VMA performance of “Like A Virgin.”
After three months of memorials and celebrations of his life, Michael Jacksonwill finally be laid to rest today in Los Angeles. While the circumstances of Mr. Jackson's sudden death are still under investigation, the long journey for the pop star will culminate in a private family funeral at the famed Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Fresh off their world tour with the Jonas Brothers, Yubin, Yenny, Sun, Mimi and Sohee are making a splash on the American music scene. A media sensation in the Eastern hemisphere, the Wonder Girls have arrived in the states with their hot single “Nobody.” The track has already taken over the club circuit, with several remixes making the rounds on DJ playlists.
Check out Thumbplay’s catalog of Wonder Girls’ remixes, plus the original track of their contagious hit:
Pop-Rockers Paramore are on a roll with their new video, "Ignorance," available now for your mobile. "Ignorance" is the second single from their third studion album Brand New Eyes, which also features the hit "Decode" from the vampire blockbuster Twilight.
Legendary diva Whitney Houston drops her new single "I Look To You" here at Thumbplay. The song is the first single from her highly anticipated upcoming album, also entitled I Look To You. The stirring ballad, masterminded by music mogul Clive Davis, is yet another memorable hit for the powerful singer. Catch-up on classic Whitney:
Paula Abdul saddened American Idol® fans today with the announcement that she will not be returning for the next season of the hit show. Paula was a darling of the late 80's and early 90's pop charts, with a string of #1 hits, including “Forever Your Girl,” “Straight Up” and “Cold Hearted.”
Before launching her singing career, Abdul was a sought-after dance choreographer, known for her work with Janet Jackson and the Jackson family, whom she credits with discovering her cheerleading at a Lakers basketball game. From there, Paula Abdul went on to choreograph dance sequences for many feature films, including The Doors. After her huge success as a recording artist, she penned hits for other top singers, such as “Spinning Around” for Kylie Minogue.
American Idol® was a huge comeback for the songstress, making her a star of the small screen, and the adoration of a new generation. Her tender critiques of contestants became a trademark of the show. Abdul used the show as a launching pad for her recent single, “Dance Like There's No Tomorrow,” produced with fellow judge Randy Jackson. Gone but not forgotten, Abdul made an impact on many contestants. Check out Thumbplay’s former Idol® contestant pages for Adam Lambert, Kris Allen, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks, David Cook and Jennifer Hudson.

The brightest stars of the music industry gathered today to honor Michael Jackson's music and life. Less than two weeks after the untimely passing of the King of Pop, a memorial service in Los Angeles celebrated the singer's achievements, featuring performances from his peers, including Mariah Carey with “I’ll Be There,” Jennifer Hudson with “Will You Be There,” John Mayer with “Human Nature,” Usher with “Gone Too Soon,” plus group performances of Jackson’s hits “Heal the World” and “We Are The World.” Other friends of Jackson who paid tribute include Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross, Queen Latifah, Lionel Richie and Stevie Wonder. The most moving moment of the memorial came when Jackson’s family entered the service to one of Michael’s most emotional songs, "Man in the Mirror."
From the legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem, to other places around the world, tributes to the King of Pop continue. The Rev. Al Sharpton took to the Apollo stage to lead a celebration by fans that included spontaneous sing-a-longs to “Beat It” and “Black or White,” plus a contest of dancers doing the Moonwalk, made famous in the 80’s by Jackson during a televised performance of “Billie Jean” on MTV. The MJ tributes are sure to continue as fans worldwide celebrate the life of this unmatched talent. Don’t miss Michael’s hits here at Thumbplay, including “Human Nature,” “Don’t Stop Until You Get Enough” and “Smooth Criminal.”
Last night was MTV's annual bash to celebrate the biggest names in Hollywood. The film Twilight was a big winner, taking home awards for "Best Movie" and "Best Kiss" (Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson). Check out the movie’s hit song “Decode” by Paramore.

Last night's show was hotter than it has been all season, with the final three guys performing two songs each. The first round songs were "Judges Choice," kicking off with Danny Gokey singing Paula's pick, a rambunctious version of Terence Trent D’Arby’s “Dance Little Sister,” to mixed praise by the judges. Next up was a surprising and original performance by Kris Allen, of OneRepublic’s “Apologize,” chosen by Kara and Randy. Simon stuck with the classics, hand-picking U2’s “One” for Adam, whose arrangement of the song rubbed Randy the wrong way.
The half-way mark brought in old favorite, season four winner Carrie Underwood, showing her charitable side in the annual “Idol Gives Back®” segment, to the tune of Karl Wolf’s “Africa,” a cover of the 1983 Toto hit. Round two started with Danny’s "You Are So Beautiful" made famous by Joe Cocker. Was it enough to keep Danny alive? He has some stiff competition from Kris, whose unique cover of Kanye West’s “Heartless” brought the house down. Simon pleaded with viewers to vote for Adam, who chose "Cryin’" by Aerosmith as his final song.

The sassy and adorable Lily Allen has been storming the charts with her sophomore record, It's Not Me, It's You. She captured our hipster hearts with her debut record, Alright, Still, with the perky hits “Smile” and “LDN,” and now she’s back with her unique brand of Reggae/Dancehall/Brit Pop. Check out the MP3 of her recent single, “The Fear,” and the tone of her new single, the contagious ”Not Fair.” Don’t miss her awesome cover of The Clash’s “Straight To Hell,” which is experiencing a resurgence in popularity from M.I.A.’s sampling, in her sleeper hit “Paper Planes.” Discover other Brit Rock classics from Morrissey, Radiohead, Elvis Costello and Coldplay at Thumbplay!
Last night's American Idol® took to the dance floor with a disco themed night. Kicking off the night was Lil Rounds with a poorly-received rendition of Chaka Khan's "I’m Every Woman," followed by Kris Allen with his inventive and praised take on Donna Summer’s "She Works Hard for the Money." Up next were two judge favorites: Danny Gokey, who seemingly can do no wrong with the judges, performing "September" from Earth, Wind and Fire, and Allison Iraheta powering through Donna Summer’s "Hot Stuff." Rounding out the night was the heavily favored rocker, Adam Lambert, doing a tender reinterpretation of Yvonne Elliman’s "If I Can't Have You," and the “saved” singer Matt Giraud performing “Stayin’ Alive” by the BeeGees. Did your favorite Idol® do justice to the originals? American Idol fan sites and message boards are gaga today over the one and only Lady GaGa, with her smoking performance on last night's American Idol results show. Although our lovely A.I. favorite, Megan Joy, was cast-off after a shaky performance of Bob Marley’s “Turn Your Lights Down Low,” Lady GaGa brought the house down with her flamboyant, artistic performance. Belting out her #1 hit “Poker Face,” Lady GaGa began the show demurely playing her glass piano filled with bubbles, then busted into an outer space-themed dance number to the delight of the crowd. Widely known in the dance club circuit and performance art circles, Lady GaGa first took the charts by the horns last year with her #1 hit "Just Dance." She is among a rare group of artists, along with powerhouses Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera, whose first two singles reached the #1 spot on the Billboard charts. You can check out our catalogue of Lady GaGa MP3’s at Thumbplay.
In anticipation of tomorrow's DVD release of Slumdog Millionaire, this year's Best Picture winner at the Oscars®, the Pussycat Dolls have released their own spicy version of the award winning song “Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny).” The multi-talented composer A.R. Rahman wrote and performed the original song for the Slumdog soundtrack, in addition to composing the film’s Oscars® winning score. His soaring vocals are also featured on the fiery Pussycat Dolls rendition. Check out other songs by the Bollywood phenom, A.R. Rahman, and tons of music, ringtones, wallpapers and videos of the Pussycat Dolls.
If you're a Pop Music junkie like me, you know there are certain artists that have changed and shaped the mainstream music scene. Every few years, an exceptional artist comes along and redefines popular culture. Rihanna is one of those artists. She has had a continual string of hits on Pop radio the past few years."Umbrella" was a huge smash on radio stations all over the country, and paved the way for the successful line of singles that followed. Rihanna's latest titled "Rehab" featuring Justin Timberlake, is reaching the heights that "Disturbia" and "Take A Bow" previously saw.
But right now, there's no Pop star bigger than Beyonce. Starring as the lead in the 90's group Destiny's Child, she went on to launch her own successful solo career and has now become a household name. Songs like "Irreplaceable" and "Naughty Girl" helped to establish her as a bona fide superstar.
You can't deny the catchy sound of Little Jackie, who are currently blowing up on TV. Recently they appeared on the Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and last night they were on the new 90210. Their song "The World Should Revolve Around Me" is firing up youtube and just about everywhere!
Beyonce has two great new hit singles and videos, both very different. The first one "If I Were A Boy" is a heartfelt ballad.
Here's a sample of some of the lyrics: If I were a boy Even just for a day I’d roll outta bed in the morning And throw on what I wanted then go Drink beer with the guys And chase after girls I’d kick it with who I wated And I’d never get confronted for it. Cause they’d stick up for me.
Britney Spears has another hit with her single "Womanizer." She proves to be the queen of catchy with another infectious pop hit. She also delivers the bod with a new sexy video. It features Britney in several different hairstyles as well as completely bare in what appears to be a sauna. That's supposed to be good for your circulation, right? Cheers to good health, Britney, and thanks for another hot new single.
It's not often that 2 recording stars come out of the closet in the same day, but both Lindsay Lohan and Clay Aiken have finally declared their gayness once and for all!
Lindsay Lohan has had a very public relationship with DJ Samantha Ronson for months now. Samantha is the sister of Mark Ronson, who is a famous musician and music producer. Clay Aiken (Sometimes misspelled Clay Akin) finally admitted that he was gay in a recent article for People Magazine, where he also shared pictures of his new baby son. He had a baby with American Idol producer Jaymes Foster.
So What is the newest single off of Pink's upcoming album, Funhouse. The lyrics are the typical sassy in-your-face fun fans expect from Pink, with a quirky music video to match. A memorable moment of Pink's So What music video features Pink riding down Sunset Boulevard on a lawnmower drinking beer.
So so what? I'm still a rock star I got my rock moves And I don't need you And guess what I'm having more fun And now that we're done I'm gonna show you tonight I'm alright, I'm just fine And you're a tool So so what? I am a rock star I got my rock moves And I don't want you tonight
Indie pop vixen FeFe Dobson hasn't been on the public radar lately, but she made a splash after showing up at the House of Hype's VMA pre-party with her BFF Christina Milian. What do you think of her blue dress and Leopard print jacket ensemble? No matter what you think about her music, she always manages to rock a cute outfit.
Pop veteran Britney Spears has never won a VMA until this year, 2008, years after the initial hysteria that surrounded the pop princess when she arrived on the scene. She took home not one, but three VMAs for her music video, Piece Of Me, including video of the year. Appearing in silver sparkly gowns, thanking god and fans, she had few words as she accepted each award.
When she's not grabbing headlines or posing in racy pictures, Miley Cyrus is making hit singles and shouting out her teen angst. Her latest single "7 Things" is a fun anthem for teenage girls that have had enough of jerks and stupid boys. It's an easy song for anyone involved in puppy love to relate to.
What are the 7 Things? You're vain Your games You're insecure You love me, you like her You made me laugh, you made me cry, I don't know which side to buy Your friends, they're jerks, when you act like them, just know it hurts I wanna be with the one I know And the seventh thing I hate the most that you do You make me love you
Cause you're not. Or at least that's what Rihanna sings in her latest hit "Take A Bow." This song has been making waves all summer long. Perhaps all that romantic frustration is easy to relate to, perhaps it just sounds good. Rihanna has been the voice of some of the best singles out there, from Umbrella to Pon De Replay.
Also check out her hit "Disturbia" if you're feelin freaky.
20 year old British singer Adele has the face of the angel and a voice like Amy Winehouse. Her new single "Chasing Pavements" off the album "19" has become a hit, with the help of its creative music video featuring dancing car accident victims.
a still of Adele from the "Chasing Pavements" video
Tay Zonday is a People's Voice Award-Nominated, Youtube Award-Winning, Webby Award-Winning singer-songwriter with more than 40 million video views on Youtube.
He blasted into the worldwide spotlight with his viral hit "Chocolate Rain". "Chocolate Rain" is arguably one of the most successful youtube hits ever. The catchy song has left an indelible mark on youth culture.
Zonday joined mainstream-music legends Weezer in the video for their 2008 "Pork & Beans" single. With a baritone voice that is often compared to Paul Robeson, Barry White, and Brad Roberts of the Crash Test Dummies. What will he do next? I don't know but those lyrics sure are somethin' ...
Chocolate Rain Some stay dry and others feel the pain
The voice behind the 2006 hit Lost Without You is getting attention again. R&B singer Robin Thicke was honored at Monday’s ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards. He is also featured on a new single by Eve called "Fantasy." His new album is due out in September of this year.
Robin's father, former Growing Pains star Alan Thicke, is also turning heads. Alan can be seen driving around in an all-electric Mini Cooper. The Emmy and Golden Globe nominee is becoming the new spokesperson for Hybrid Technologies, a firm that develops and markets lithium-powered products. Way to go green Mr Seaver!
What do Pussycat Dolls become when they grow up? Other kinds of older cats? I'm not sure, but according to their new single, the Pussycat Dolls want the following:
1) To be famous 2) To be a star 3) To be in movies 4) See the world 5) Drive nice cars 6) Have groupies
Sounds nice. I think the dolls have pretty much all of those things ... so I guess they're grown up already?
The Pussycat Dolls are back with their hot new single When I Grow Up.
Shake It is easily one of the hottest new summer songs. Metro Station is comprised of Trace Cyrus, Blake Healy, Mason Musso, and Anthony Improgo. Two members of the electro-pop band have a Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus connection. Trace Cyrus is Billy Ray Cyrus' stepson, and Mason Musso's younger brother plays the role of Oliver on Hannah Montana.
No doubt Metro Station is loved by Hannah Montana fans. Their high energy and positive vibe resonates youth and fun.
Katy Perry's playful summer dance singles "I Kissed A Girl" and "Ur So Gay" have quickly caught on with their catchy beats and daring lyrics. The Zoey Deschanel look alike demands attention both for her cute looks and feisty attitude. It's easy to see why she's climbing those charts!
Today and tomorrow I'm going to highlight the ringtones that are driving people crazy right now. There's so many amazing hits, I don't want to weigh you down with all this greatness all at once. Let's start things off with these ringtone superstars:
Zac Hanson, the youngest of the brothers in the rock trio, Hanson, is now a father. John Ira Shepherd Hanson was born Tuesday to Zac Hanson and his wife, Kate, at an undisclosed hospital in Hanson's hometown of Tulsa.
The new father is overjoyed with the news. "There is not an audience or concert that could ever stand up to the feeling of meeting your baby for the first time," said Zac.
I wonder if John Ira Shepherd will get MMMbop lullabyes from his dad?
Wow, celebrities sure like to be pregnant these days, eh?
Angsty-chic pop star Ashlee Simpson is expecting a baby with Fall Out Boy star Pete Wentz. Which you probably already know because you read Pete Wentz' blog, we all do, right? Ok maybe not, but Mr. Wentz posted the announcement there for all of us to know. I guess he's just a proud father to be.
David Cook triumphed in a massive 12 million vote landslide American Idol victory against opponent David Archuleta in the finale of last night's show. A number of amazing performances capped off the evening. Donna Summer and Syesha Mercado sang "Last Dance" together. Donna also sang her new hit "Stamp Your Feet".
Tonight is the the night! The final two contestants on the 2008 season of American Idol performed last night, and the winner will be chosen in just a couple hours.
In the contestant's last chance to woo America, they performed classic favorites. Andrew Lloyd-Webber appeared on the show as a coach. David Cook sang U2’s With Or Without You. Simon suggested that Cook should have performed a different song, such as Michael Jackson's Billie Jean, or Lionel Richie's Hello.
Who do you think will win tonight's competition? I'm not sure but I hope they put out some great songs. Click on any of the artists or songs above to check out the ringtone for the original song.
Last night Fantasia's return to the American Idol stage was a complete success. Barrino stole the show and was certainly the most exciting part of the night. Her high energy rendition of "Bore Me" was anything but boring. She had everyone out of their seat with their hands in the air.
25 years later, Michael Jackson's hit album, Thriller, is getting people excited, now on reality dance television shows.
On tonight's episode of Dancing with the Stars, a Thriller tribute will be performed by Seventeen dancers along with Omarion and Mya. Their routine will be set to a medley of "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin',""Billie Jean" and "Thriller." America will be tuned in for this one. Currently Dancing With the Stars is viewed by an audience of 20 million viewers per episode!
And soon after that, audiences can enjoy another take on Thriller when Bravo's Step It Up & Dance has a Thriller Episode. The Step It Up & Dance cast has previously performed their Thriller routine live on the Today show and at the Tribecca Film Festival. On the May 29th episode of The Step It Up & Dance, you can see what you may have missed as the cast performs their Thriller tribute once again. This episode will also include a segment with "Man In The Mirror" from the Bad album.
Rumors are flooding the internet that pop stars Nick Cannon, 27, and Mariah Carey, 38, got married at Mariah's private estate after one month of dating. Oooh exciting! Congratulations Nick and Mariah if the rumors are true. Only time will tell. In the meantime, enjoy these hits from Cannon and Carey ... so should I say Mr. and Mrs. Cannon?
Chicago-native Peter Cetera helped form a band in the late 60's who loved the city so much, they actually named themselves Chicago. Just a few years back, the name Chicago was given to both a play and a movie that showcased city life during the 1920's.
There are plenty of great artists from Chicago. Check our site for you favorites, whether it's Jazz, R&B, Hip Hop, or Pop.
While her single "Bleeding Love" is blowing up everywhere, right now you can get Leona Lewis’ exclusive tone "Whatever It Takes" on your mobile. You can only get it here on Thumbplay! It will be available for a limited time only! So don’t miss your chance to get this tone before anyone else does!
Jay-Z and Beyonce managed to pull off a stealth wedding this Friday in New York City, keeping the event a secret to press. Not a single photo of Beyonce in a wedding dress has surfaced! The private ceremony was followed by a lavish party at the rapper’s Tribeca apartment in New York in front of family and A-list pals, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Martin and Destiny's Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
Impressive indeed, and what a union.
Beyonce and Jay-Z are two of today's hottest acts, together and apart. Enjoy these:
