Jay-Z and His Entourage "Run This Town" With New Single


Jay-Z is back in the news today with the video release of "Run This Town," a cinematic spectacle featuring Kanye West and Rihanna. The song, from his forthcoming album The Blueprint 3, is the follow-up single to the hugely popular "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)." The new album, featuring exciting new collaborators such as Drake, Kid Cudi, MGMT, and the British sensation, Mr Hudson, is expected to go in a new creative direction than his previous efforts American Gangster and Kingdom Come. Incredible New Stuff

So many huge artists have new releases out. First and foremost, there's Lil Wayne, who continues to be a top-seller across all media channels. His new single is called "Prom Queen", a guitar-driven, Rock-influenced Rap track. Kelly Clarkson has a super up-tempo tune "My Life Would Suck Without You" from her upcoming album All I Ever Wanted. U2's new one "Get On Your Boots" has hints of Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues" within the lyrics and melody. INXS did something similar to U2 with their song "Mediate" back in the early 90's, stylistically referencing the same Dylan track. As for hot new videos, one doesn't need to look further than Soulja Boy's "Kiss Me Thru The Phone", Kanye's "Heartless" and Nickelback's smash "Gotta Be Somebody". Oh, and did I mention Eminem's new single "Crack A Bottle" featuring Dr. Dre and 50 Cent??!! Tons of buzz on that one. Beyonce's New Hits: If I Were a Boy and Single Ladies Ringtones



Beyonce has two great new hit singles and videos, both very different. The first one "If I Were A Boy" is a heartfelt ballad.

T.I.'s hit, Whatever You Like was produced by Jim Jonsin, the producer of Lil' Wayne's recent hit single Lollipop. Jonsin uses similar synthesizers, drum patterns, and a straightforward beat in both hits. I guess his formula works, and it doesn't hurt that both Lollipop and Whatever You Like have sexy lyrics too!

Shake It is easily one of the hottest new summer songs. Metro Station is comprised of Trace Cyrus, Blake Healy, Mason Musso, and Anthony Improgo. Two members of the electro-pop band have a Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus connection. Trace Cyrus is Billy Ray Cyrus' stepson, and Mason Musso's younger brother plays the role of Oliver on Hannah Montana.

David Cook Wins!

Enjoy David Cook's first ringtone/single: "The Time of My Life" !



David Cook triumphed in a massive 12 million vote landslide American Idol victory against opponent David Archuleta in the finale of last night's show. A number of amazing performances capped off the evening. Donna Summer and Syesha Mercado sang "Last Dance" together. Donna also sang her new hit "Stamp Your Feet".

The Top 12 contestants sang George Michael's "Faith", sung by the female contestents, and "Father Figure", sung by the male contestents. George Michael also came out and performed live. Teen sensations, the Jonas Brothers performed S.O.S.. The top 12 Idol finalists performed Brian Adams songs, and then Brian Adams came out and sang a couple as well.

And that's not all! OneRepublic performed "Apologize". Season 6 Idol Jordin Sparks performed her new hit "One Step At A Time", and Season 4 Idol Carrie Underwood performed her new single "Last Name".

Michael Jackson's Thriller Heating Up Dance TV

25 years later, Michael Jackson's hit album, Thriller, is getting people excited, now on reality dance television shows.

On tonight's episode of Dancing with the Stars, a Thriller tribute will be performed by Seventeen dancers along with Omarion and Mya. Their routine will be set to a medley of "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'," "Billie Jean" and "Thriller." America will be tuned in for this one. Currently Dancing With the Stars is viewed by an audience of 20 million viewers per episode!

And soon after that, audiences can enjoy another take on Thriller when Bravo's Step It Up & Dance has a Thriller Episode. The Step It Up & Dance cast has previously performed their Thriller routine live on the Today show and at the Tribecca Film Festival. On the May 29th episode of The Step It Up & Dance, you can see what you may have missed as the cast performs their Thriller tribute once again. This episode will also include a segment with "Man In The Mirror" from the Bad album.

Rap star Lil Wayne is on his way to being the hottest MC in the game according to a lot of fans and critics. He always manages to keep things interesting. He featured a real baby picture of himself in the album art for Tha Carter III, to be released on June 10. Lil Wayne has also had some interesting criminal charges placed against him recently, but it's not getting in the way of his success. Rumors also speculate that he will be touring with Keyshia Cole this coming year.

Twenty-one years after its original release, Rick Astley has become an internet phenomenon with his hit single Never Gonna Give You Up. Rick can thank "Rickrolling" for his resurgence.

Rickrolling is a prank and Internet meme where a person provides a link that is supposed to be something unrelated, and the link actually takes the user to the Astley youtube video. It can also mean playing the song loudly in public in order to be disruptive. A person who falls for the prank is said to be "rickrolled".

Already a Classic

As time goes on, music changes. In the early 80's, when Punk and Disco started to dissolve, New Wave came into existence. As keyboard-driven Pop died down later in that decade, Hair Bands came along and dominated Rock in the early 90’s. The mid 90’s brought along Grunge which turned into Hard Rock, giving way to today's artists. Throughout these different eras of music, there are classic songs that seem to slip the cracks of our memory. I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorite forgotten tunes; from the 90’s on. New Single from Timbaland

The new single from Timbaland titled Apologize features One Republic, a Pop band who's gained major notoriety through the internet. It was via the web that the Colorado natives caught the attention of Mosley Music, Timbaland’s label. Of course, it didn’t hurt that the band’s lead singer Ryan Tedder was already busy in Los Angeles, writing and producing songs for the likes of Paul Oakenfold, t.A.T.u., Lil' Jon and Bubba Sparxxx.

The band, who have been compared to piano-based groups like Keane, Coldplay and veteran rockers U2, will be releasing their album titled Dreaming Out Loud in mid November.

The single "Apologize" was written by One Republic and will be featured on their debut release. Timbaland’s version (and current single) is actually a remix of the original. It's been climbing up the charts and has recently become one of Thumbplay's top-selling ringtones.

Most people will recognize that the Timbaland version is laced with his distinct sound. The smooth vocal melody, sung by Ryan Tedder, is reminiscent of a young Elton John with a little Justin Timberlake in the hook.

Besides being a great cut of the song, the ringtone is actually perfect for when an ex calls. What could be better than a customized tone for an ex? lol!

Timbaland is a celebrated Pop and Hip-Hop producer, who has worked with numerous major label artists. He found success early in his career working with artists like Missy Elliott, Aaliyah and Magoo. He later went on to work with top rappers Ludacris and Jay-Z. His recent collaborations include Pop stars Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake and 80's sensation Duran Duran.
