The Danish duo The Raveonettes have hit the scene running with the hot single "Bang!" from their new record, In and Out of Control, released earlier this month. The retro-inspired duo has taken cues from rock gods Buddy Holly, The Velvet Underground and other diverse influencers to create their unique sound.
The Raveonettes 2007 LP Lust, Lust, Lust earned rave reviews for its innovative, ethereal guitar sounds interwoven with an infectious hybrid beat of New Wave, Punk and Pop. The album produced several popular songs, including “Dead Sound,” You Want The Candy,” “Aly, Walk With Me,” and “Blush” (along with the amazing B-side “Black-White”). Their follow-up record, the EP Sometimes They Drop By, explored a new dimension of their vintage stylings, combining the cinematic ambience of composers like Angelo Badalamenti, and guitar riffs also found in the work of current guitar aficionado M. Ward.

Thumbplay is the ONLY site where you can find exclusive mobile video clips of Whitney Houston's two new videos, "Million Dollar Bill" and "I Look To You." Shakira's hotly anticipated upcoming album, entitled She Wolf, is primed for release next month. The She Wolf title track, also released in Spanish as "Loba," is already topping the charts in North America, South America and Europe. Check out the cool alt tone cuts for "She Wolf (Breakdown)" and "Loba (Breakdown)."
Shakira broke onto the scene as a youngster, with her 1995 album Pies Descalzos. The album was Shakira’s first brush with stardom, producing several Latin hits, including “Donde Estas Corazon” and “Un Poco De Amor.” Her sophomore record, the album ¿Dónde Están los Ladrones? was Shakira’s international breakthrough, earning her several Latin Grammy® awards. Still one of the all-time best selling Latin records in the United States, ¿Dónde Están los Ladrones? garnered many hit singles, such as “Ciega Sordomuda,” “Tu” and “Eyes Like Yours (Ojos Asi).”
Shakira’s first English language LP, Laundry Service, launched the star into a stratospheric category along with other top-selling divas, reaching her highest position on the U.S. charts to date, with the hits “Whenever, Wherever” and “Suerte.” Her next two albums, the Spanish Fijación Oral Vol. 1, and its sister record, the English language Oral Fixation Vol. 2, became international sensations with the songs “La Tortura,” “Hips Don't Lie,” and “Illegal.”
The Kanye West buzz is still burning up the internet. Since his shocking disruption of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at Sunday's awards show, West has made several apologies to Ms. Swift, apparently not satiating the public’s interest in the story. Kanye first apologized via his Twitter account, followed by a televised apology on the new Jay Leno Show, plus a personal phone call made to Taylor Swift. You know you’re hot when the President weighs-in on the controversy!
For those of you catching-up on the brouhaha, Kanye West stormed the stage during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night. The reason for the disruption? Kanye wanted to proclaim his preference for Beyonce’s video, “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It).” Always the lady, Swift politely stepped aside while Kanye West was heckled by the crowd. In a display of her trademark class, Beyonce took the opportunity, when she won Video Of The Year for “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It),” to invite Taylor Swift on-stage to finish her speech.
After days of apologies, and Presidential off-the-cuff remarks, interest has piqued in the news of an upcoming Kanye West and Lady GaGa tour. Lady GaGa was responsible for some controversy of her own at Sunday’s wild show: during an elaborate dance sequence for the hit “Paparazzi,” Lady GaGa startled the crowd as her performance morphed into a horror movie-esque gore fest. The singer’s artistic production was interpreted by some as an homage to Michael Jackson’s "Thriller," and Madonna’s famous 1980’s MTV VMA performance of “Like A Virgin.”
From Kanye West's disruption of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech, to Lady GaGa's shocking, horror-themed performance, the MTV Video Music Awards fulfilled its promise to be the most buzz-worthy awards show of the year. The night’s excitement, MC'd by Wale, was topped off with tons of memorable live performances from Beyonce, Pink, Pitbull, Muse, 3OH!3, The All-American Rejects, and an encore by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys.
More excitement ensued when Lady GaGa appeared to be injured during her elaborate dance sequence for her hit “Paparazzi.” In fact, it was all part of the dramatic, gory performance which morphed into horror movie madness, interpreted by some as an homage to Michael Jackson’s "Thriller" and Madonna’s famous 1980’s MTV VMA performance of “Like A Virgin.”
An Oscar™ winner for the Ray Charles biopic, Ray, Jamie Foxx continues to be one of the busiest men in show business. After months of topping the charts with "Blame It," featuring T-Pain, and "Just Like Me," featuring T.I., Foxx is staying on top of the charts with several official remixes of “Digital Girl.”
Renowned talk show host and comedian Ellen Degeneres surprised American Idol® fans today with the announcement she will be the fourth judge, replacing original panelist Paula Abdul. The high profile move came on the heels of last month’s surprise move by Abdul to depart the show after eight seasons.
American Idol® was a huge comeback for the songstress, making her a star of the small screen, and the adoration of a new generation. Paula was a darling of the late 80's and early 90's pop charts, with a string of #1 hits, including “Forever Your Girl,” “Straight Up” and “Cold Hearted.” Before launching her singing career, Abdul was a sought-after dance choreographer, known for her work with Kylie Minogue, Janet Jackson and the Jackson family, whom she credits with discovering her cheerleading at a Lakers basketball game. Her tender critiques of contestants became a distinctive element of American Idol®.
The immediate public reaction has been both hot and cold for Degeneres. Many bloggers have praised her as a compassionate, experienced live performer whose success lends her credibility. Others have criticized her as too soft and out of her element in the music world. Audiences can judge for themselves when the new season premieres next January.

The wait is finally over - College Football season is here! The season kicked off last night with 14th ranked Boise State Broncos beating #16 Oregon Ducks 19-8 in a controversial win for the ages. The action continues this weekend with top teams starting off their season with a bang, including the USC Trojans (4), the Texas Longhorns (2), and last year’s National Championship contenders Florida Gators (1) and the Oklahoma Sooners (3).
Pop-Rockers Paramore are on a roll with their new video, "Ignorance," available now for your mobile. "Ignorance" is the second single from their third studion album Brand New Eyes, which also features the hit "Decode" from the vampire blockbuster Twilight.
Paula Abdul saddened American Idol® fans today with the announcement that she will not be returning for the next season of the hit show. Paula was a darling of the late 80's and early 90's pop charts, with a string of #1 hits, including “Forever Your Girl,” “Straight Up” and “Cold Hearted.”
Before launching her singing career, Abdul was a sought-after dance choreographer, known for her work with Janet Jackson and the Jackson family, whom she credits with discovering her cheerleading at a Lakers basketball game. From there, Paula Abdul went on to choreograph dance sequences for many feature films, including The Doors. After her huge success as a recording artist, she penned hits for other top singers, such as “Spinning Around” for Kylie Minogue.
American Idol® was a huge comeback for the songstress, making her a star of the small screen, and the adoration of a new generation. Her tender critiques of contestants became a trademark of the show. Abdul used the show as a launching pad for her recent single, “Dance Like There's No Tomorrow,” produced with fellow judge Randy Jackson. Gone but not forgotten, Abdul made an impact on many contestants. Check out Thumbplay’s former Idol® contestant pages for Adam Lambert, Kris Allen, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks, David Cook and Jennifer Hudson.

The season of star-studded outdoor festivals is upon us, with the biggest artists playing this past weekend at Liberty State Park in New Jersey. The festival's opening night on Friday brought out the big guns with headliner Jay-Z, whose new single “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)” has taken over the charts. Saturday’s line-up included rockers My Bloody Valentine, Gogol Bordello, Arctic Monkeys, and alt-country phenom Neko Case, who has enjoyed a flourishing solo career after her time with Canadian supergroup The New Pornographers. Sunday’s show ended the festival with a bang – superstars Coldplay headlined the night, supported by MGMT, Mogwai, The Black Keys, and 80’s new wave gods Echo & The Bunnymen.

The good-humored Bret Michaels laughed off Monday's awards show incident that nearly left him with a broken nose. The tough guy rocker took a blow to the head after Poison's performance of their 80's hit "Nothin' But a Good Time" at this week's awards gala, honoring the theater world's best and brightest. As the star of VH1’s “Rock of Love,” Michaels is usually floored by a bevy of ladies, not the scenery! Check out Thumbplay’s huge catalog of Bret MichaelsMP3’s and tones, plus Poison’s classic library of MP3’s, ringtones and videos. Congratulations to all the artists who won Grammys® on Sunday night. Although there were some predictable wins, there were definitely a few surprises. I'm so glad that Robert Plant & Alison Krauss received their due, for releasing such a fantastic album. Before coming together on this project, Alison Krauss led a long career as a Bluegrass artist and Robert Plant, of course, was the lead singer of one of the most influential Rock bands of all-time, Led Zeppelin. Newcomer Adele won Best New Artist and it was good to see an old favorite, Bruce Springsteen win for Best Rock Song. Coldplay picked-up Song Of The Year for "Viva La Vida" along with two other wins, while Daft Punk received 2 awards including Best Dance Recording for their song "Harder Better Faster Stronger" (which Kanye West sampled for his song "Stronger"). Lil Wayne snatched the award for Best Rap album, and Best R&B Song went to Ne-Yo for "Miss Independent". Of course, Metallica won Best Metal Performance on their song "My Apocalypse" and not surprisingly, Estelle ft. Kanye West claimed victory for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration on their hit "American Boy". Congrats to all the winners and nominees. Click on the links above to get the MP3, Video Clip or Ringtone from your favorite artist.
Hi Everyone, it's good to be back after the long holiday break. There's no suprise that today we're seeing all the new phones out there buzzing with some of the coolest mobile stuff. If you didn't already know... T.I., Beyonce, Soulja Boy and Katy Perry are burning up our Ringtone, Video and MP3 charts. Due to the fact that we'll have a new president sworn-in this month, Obama graphics are being dowloaded in amazing numbers. Along with that, Will.I.Am's tribute "It's A New Day" tone is also a favorite. NFL Graphics are in demand, as wallpapers and animations of favorite teams are being sported by fans. For Games... God Of War - Betrayal and 007 Quantum of Solace are still top-sellers. Animations from Neon World are big right now as well as Valentine's Day graphics. It's definitely exciting to come in from the new year and see what people are interested in. Let's all hope this next year turns out to be one of the best!

On Sunday, MTV premiered it's new documentary on Britney Spears called "Britney: For The Record". The footage contained revealing interviews on the Pop Star's life. Her album CIRCUS is out today and is set to put her back on top of the charts. The ringtone for her new single "Womanizer" is as hot as the video. I predict you'll be hearing a lot more from Britney in the months to come.
The College Football season is getting intense right now. Last week we saw Pittsburg lose to Cincinnati, Ohio State crush Michigan, and Oklahoma's victory over Texas Tech. This Saturday, I'm looking forward to watching Georgia Tech play their long-time rival the Georgia Bulldogs. The battle for state bragging rights is on, as these two teams go head-to-head. If Georgia Tech wins, it will be their first victory over the Bulldogs in 7 years. Will Georgia Tech come out victorious? I guess we'll have to wait and see...
Hailing from the great city of Philly, 21 year old Jazmine Sullivan has taken the R&B world by storm. A newcomer on the music scene, Jazmine's first single "Need U Bad" reached number one and immediately established her as a serious artist. The protege of Missy Elliott, Jazmine is not only a lead vocalist, but has also written and arranged songs on her debut album Fearless. Her second hit "Bust Your Windows" is a vengeful song with a flamenco-inspired edge. Lyrically it's reminiscent of Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats". Check Jazmine's hit tones here and her video for "Need U Bad".
The TV show was based on Candace Bushnell's book by the same name. Bushnell is an author best known for the series that was based off her collection of news columns, Sex And The City.
The "Davids" of American Idol fame are holding strong on the music charts. Both Cook and Archuleta have already released their first singles. For the winner of the Idol competition, David Cook, "The Time Of My Life" turned out to be a radio smash. For runner-up David Archuleta, his first single "Crush" along with the video, are both charting high right now. With Archuleta's album released yesterday and Cook's album being released on the 18th, the entire nation's waiting to see who will receive the most album sales. Which David will hail winner of yet another competition? Either way, both artists have done a fantastic job launching successful solo careers. We wish them both the best!
The English pop sensation Natasha Bedingfield has a far-reaching sense of style-her album tracks range from electro-pop to lush ballads while her voice can swing from smoky to pure in as long as it takes to switch from verse to chorus. Her musical roots grow back to her childhood, where she was part of a local Christian worship band along with her younger sister. The band was named DNA Algorithm and their sound ranged from R&B to sloppy rock n' roll, a precursor of things to come. She also participated in her local church's worship album, Hillsong London's Shout God's Fame. The aspiring songwriter chose a Psychology major over performing arts college, figuring it would add depth to her lyrics. In 2004, she released her debut track, "Single," to UK markets. "Single" made it to #3 and suddenly all England was grooving to Natasha Bedingfield's beat-heavy pop. She followed it up with the up-tempo smash "These Words" that went straight to #1. On the strength of her two hits, her debut full-length Unwritten was one of the most hotly anticipated releases in years. The album received such a warm reception that Natasha set her sites on the historically difficult US market and sent "These Words" across the ocean. It peaked at #17 on the Billboard Hot 100 and caught the attention of eclectic music fans with open ears. Unwritten slowly gained momentum on the charts, especially in the download market, and Natasha Bedingfield became one of the surprise success stories of 2005.
Houston rapper Mike Jones has gone from newbie rapper to one of the most well-known badass rappers on the southern underground. Jones gained regional fame from his now legendary SwishaHouse mix tapes. He's known for his sense of humor and personality, which is obvious from his clever metaphors and freestyles. Based on a suggestion from his grandma, Jones often repeats his own name in his songs and then asks "Who?" His popularity began in Texas, but after teaming up with SwishaHouse, fans discovered Mike Jones. Jones' first big single "Still Tippin'" featured label mate Paul Wall and Star Track signee Slim Thug. With his newest success it will be easy to answer his own favorite question "Who Is Mike Jones?"
Halloween is coming soon! Here are some suggestions to keep your mobile phone sPoOKy...

Those loveable characters from Aardman Animations have finally gone mobile. Now you can have video clips of Wallace & Gromit right on your cell phone. Join the duo as Wallace invents such great contraptions as a new 'remote control device' on The Tellyscope, or his Snowmanatron and the infamous Turbo Diner. Also, lots of thrilling action in the motorcycle scene in A Close Shave Part 2.
American Idol runner up David Archuleta is out with his first single, Crush. We not only have the ringtone, but we also have his exclusive music video for your cell phone. Check out E-40 Featuring Akon in this video exclusive for "Wake it Up." E-40 is credited with helping the Bay Area hyphy movement (something of a West Coast version of crunk) gain national exposure and is well known for his legendary flow, which incorporates one of hip-hop's most extensive and developed slang vocabularies, a considerable amount of which was created by E-40 himself.
Hot young Jewish comedian Sarah Silverman has created another web sensation, using her 'way with words' to create laughs and influence minds. Silverman is known for playing with racism and mocking the very idea of being offended. With cutesy and unapologetic delivery, she delivers non sugar coated statements that reflect common stereotypes in modern culture. The very point of Silverman's offensive statements is their honest reflection of how many people feel, as she creates a mockery of these ideas.
Silverman balances satire with a serious political message in her latest web video, The Great Schlep, where she mixes her trademark offensive humor with an actual message. Silverman urges young Jewish Obama supporters to travel to Florida where many Jewish grandparents live, so that the grandkids can urge their grandparents to vote for Obama.
Disney's Donald Duck is perhaps most memorable for his voice: raspy, gargled, and full-o-spit; exactly how a talking duck would sound. Donald is also famous for all of the bad luck he encounters. The cute, fluffy, white feathered guy is the butt of all the jokes!
Today, it was announced that yesterday LeRoi Moore, Saxophonist for the Dave Matthews Band passed away. Upon receiving this sad news, I'd like to highlight some of the tones, videos and graphics that featured LeRoi, to celebrate his work.
LeRoi's playing can be heard in the Live Version of "Ants Marching", the instrumental breaks in"Too Much", and in the solid textures during the chorus of "American Baby".

No Matter What is the hot track from T.I.'s latest album Paper Trail. The disputed "King of the South" is back after an interesting career marred by controversy and run ins with the law. No Matter What's more serious tone highlights T.I.'s badass side and has a catchy hook to go with it.
Hellboy is one ugly hero. But he's also cool and fun to watch. His character is a demon who fights for the US government against a variety of fictional and historic enemies. The sweet and silly character Domo has been the victim of Internet Meme. You may recognize him due to a Fark thread from July 28th, 2001 where the Domo monster threatens a kitten. Domo is an otherwise harmless fictional beast. He is officially described as "a strange creature that hatched from an egg." Domo's favorite food is Japanese-style meat and potato stew, and he has a strong dislike for apples, due to an unexplained mystery in his DNA. Domo-kun is known to pass gas repeatedly when nervous or upset. He is often regarded as being some sort of poo monster. Yes, I said poo.

It seems that Snoop Dogg has been banned from entering the U.K. He recently ran into some trouble, when his entourage started a reported brawl in London's Heathrow Airport.
Whatever hardship Snoop is facing right now still doesn't change the fact that his new Video for Sensual Seduction is topping the charts. The ringtone as well as the mobile video clip are blowing up cell phones everywhere.
It's OK Snoop, we're still here for you in the U.S.!
